The more I think about it, I would rather wait until Jan. 2012 to get a new GS. By Jan. GM should have some good discounts going on by than on the 2012's. Its the new seats and up graded sound system, the new steering wheel thats got me to wait. Are you thinking the same?
i'm not waiting, GM is making me wait. for some reason my order is not moving. i know the plants down but aren't they still sending orders to production this week. i'm giving my dealer another week then i'm moving on to one that can get one....

Absolutely. All 3 are disappointments on the current car, so no way I'd buy an '11 now. Besides, couldn't find one I wanted anyway, so a further sacrifice in options doesn't make any sense. Pulled my E92 M3 out of the market, and will wait a year or so. We should see similar discounts by then. And if it's announced to be the last year of the C6, even more. We'll see, but I won't regret the move one bit. Good day.
Another way of looking at it. Currently, there are thousands of left over 2011's sitting on the dealer's lots. Both the dealers and GM wants to move them out, thus great incentives to get you to purchase one of the leftovers. That means less people purchasing the new2012. The longer you wait, the fewer 2011's to drag prices down, meaning demand will then go up for 2012's, thus holding the prices up on the 2012's.

this doesn't explain why i can't get my sold order built.
Every year will bring further refinements. Unless a significant change in the powertrain was in the works like from 07-08, there'll always be a reason or two to wait for the next year. I guess maybe I'm not picky enough but the current sport seats work great for me and I hardly listen to the radio (one of the reasons I didn't opt for the 3LT).
None of the improvements listed for the '12 model gave me any reason not to move forward with a good deal on an '11.
The only thing that had me even thinking twice about buying an '11 is the 2LT option package contents change for '12. I really wanted the HUD but didn't want all the other items in the '11 3LT package. However, once I researched how easy and inexpensive it is to add a HUD to my '11 2LT, it became a no-brainer.

I was part of the OHIO HUD install a few weeks back. If the Steve HUD install option was not avail. I might be thinking about a 2012 2LT. But since the HUD install also added a KenWood 9980HD and rear view camera so believe I am set until the 3rd or fourth year of the C7.
Thought about ordering a 2012, but coming from a Mustang, the seats in the 2011 GS 3LT package are huge improvement. The 7 speaker sound system is great. The steering wheel I didn't care about. An upgrade to the LS3 would have made me order a 2012.

So you're willing to wait and continue to drive the M3 just to score a possible, but not guaranteed, discount on a 2012, rather than take the current discounts on a 2011 and get to drive it right now.
You know there's always going to be continuous improvements, so waiting for the next thing on the horizon is a never ending game.
What happens to your game plan if the economy improves or others have the same plan? The demand will rise and the discounts will evaporate and you'll still be stuck with an even older M3.

Problem is ... you could always wait ... and wait, 2015 will be WAY different w/ wild discounts, as would 2020, but as with 'puters, you need it now - you want it now, so just get it and be done. Maybe there will be an electric vette for 2013, or a hybrid? Maybe 2011 will be the last vette if O'bamba has his way. Who knows, and most vetters are not looking for a coupon (would be nice though), just hot wheels to motor, my 2¢ is all ...

Sound upgrade, new seats, new sterring wheel for the last 10 years Chevy has some kind of discounts...
