Default Seat memory

Has anyone figured out how to make the seat start remembering the settings? When I get in, I have no clue as to where the seat may go if it even moves.

Thanx for any help.

Have you gone through the process to set them permanently?

1. Check the wiring under the seat to be sure all connections are tight.

2. Be sure you're using the same fob every time, or else be sure the seat memory option is programmed the same for both fobs.

3. Be sure you do have the seat memory option programmed correctly.

I followed the instructions in my owners manual, and have had no problems.

Maybe if you were a little more specific in describing the problem you are having, we could give you some pointers.

I guess I'll need to plead ignorance. I thought that if I held the set button until it beeped the seat was programmed, just like my other cars. I've been using the same fob since I bought the car. I may have put a new battery in the fob at some point, though.

All of the comments are welcome and I guess I'll have to something I hate to do........read the freakin' manual. LOL!

There are 2 different seat positions that can be programmed for each fob, the driving position and the exit position. Note that in addition to having the driving position or exit position programmed via the door buttons, you also have to have them programmed through the DIC if you want the seat movement to be automatic.

Replacing the battery should not affect the programmed seat position or its automatic movement.

You need to hold the button until it beeps twice. It beeps once to recall the previous setting, so you're not actually programming anything.

And for the seat to move to it's preset, I believe you need to have the parking brake set.

Yes, when I remember, I start in neutral withthe e-brake applied and hit the #1 button on the door. I always carry the #1 fob.

If you're driving, and need to choose a preset, you can pull the E-Brake up just one notch. I used to do that when raising or lowering my prior convertible's top (very slow speed, of course!)

As always, good answers from the gallery to the OP's question

But c'mon people... is RTFM really all that difficult?

Real men don't read manuals or ask for directions.

What year is your Vette? I can look in the manual and get some instructions for you. I’m a woman, so I think it’s OK if I read it.

Thanks,

Doesn't posting a question, asking HOWTO on the forum qualify as the latter?

Our 2009 A6 must be in "Park" for the memory function to work, but Parking brake not required.

Manual tranny, or automatic?

If it's an automatic and you have the memory seat option AUTO MEMORY RECALL turned on with the DIC, the seat should move to the driving position as soon as the engine starts. Again, if it's an automatic and you have the memory seat option AUTO EXIT RECALL turned on with the DIC, the seat should move to the exit position after the tranny has been put in PARK, you've turned off the engine, and as soon as you open the door.
