It seems that you need the ign in the run position to do certain things to the car (e.g. DIC setup), but there's no way that I have found to do this without the engine running. In traditional key cars, you could do so.
What am I missing? Is there a way to have the ign in the ON position without the engine running?

ACC position won't do it.
Press and hold acc position for about 15 seconds.
Than yes, you can do DIC setup and other functions.
Accessory mode tales a press and hold for several seconds.
push on the bottom of the start button and HOLD it down. after 30 seconds or so, the car will be on like you would turn a key to "on". after you are done reading codes or whatever, just hit the bottom of the start button again and it will turn off. hope this helps, i do it all the time on C6's i work on. cranky
As noted, press the bottom of the start button once and release for accessory mode. Press the bottom of the start button and hold it for 10 seconds and the car will be placed in ignition on/engine off mode. This will give you complete access to everything you can do with the engine running (DIC personalization, Navigation, etc.) while parked with the engine actually off.

If I missed that in the abusers...oops, I mean owner's manual, I deserve to be beaten to within a millimeter of something by a 20 yr. old gorgeous blond. Or something.
To those of you that thought of recommending an owners manual search, good luck. This particular tidbit isn"t in the owners manual, it is a diagnostic tool, not really an advertised feature.
