So a while back I test drove a 2011 GS, sweet ride I may add. I have a 2007 coupe with no mods that I know of and I bought it with 7000 miles. Good and broken in then, even more so now. The 2011 had about 50 miles on it, I put the hammer down and I was not impressed. Not at all.
--Was the 2011 a lemon?
--Needed to be broken in? ( Which I dought )
--Maybe my used 2007 has mods of somekind?
There's this common misconception that there's this massive, noticeable difference in speed between the LS2 and LS3 'Vettes. There isn't. Still, you should have noticed a difference in overall capability with the GS. Launching, cornering, braking, etc.
My girl is a ton-boy at 40, even she noticed the car was not as fast as 2007. I was amazed and suprised, I do not get it. I expected similar, but big difference in the -V- way
Not sure how much of a difference you were expecting and what it takes to impress you. I would jump in a Z06 and that should do the trick. I do not think the GS versus your 07 will initially give you that "wow" factor if just looking at pure power when you jump on it.

The G/S weighs about 100 lbs more than your 2007, that's going to soak up maybe 15 hp. Finishing the break-in will add a few. But it basically has 30-36 more horses, so overall it should be a bit quicker.
If both cars have same tranny, then maybe the G/S is a lemon but more likely the smoothness of the newer car is deceiving you.
I'd keep what you've got. Owned a ZO6 for several years now, and love the way it performs. Quite honestly, think the wide body look is starting to wear a bit thin. Could easily do without that part of the package.
Granted, your car could have some minor 'stealth' performance mods not readily apparent but I'd think you'd know if your car had any significant performance modifications. Even a tune (which wouldn't give you all that much) could be easily identified if you wanted to check. Chances are if everything appears stock under the hood your car is completely stock.
I believe a Grand Sport would slightly outperform a stock 2007. I think this is a case of reality not living up to your expectations.
Both w/ same type (man vs auto) transmissions? Both Manual
Same differental gearing? Not sure on I this, I would guess close
Did you have the emergency brake on (joke)? Nope
Difference can be up to 36 HP. Break-in does make a difference. GS is heavier. You may drive your more familiar Vette "harder". I hit it hard a few times, I am not shy.
Maybe the GS was a lemon, yet odds are it is not. Drive another GS and if still not impressed...go Z06! You may be correct.

See that the whole thing, I expected it to be around even. It felt like the 2011 GS was like a second, maybe even more than that slower in a quarter mile lets say.
It all comes down to yesterday, I picked up a 2011 Camaro 2SS / RS . It felt just like the 2011 GS power. Granted I did not hit either brand new car as I normally would, but I have driven my Vette enough to know. I also have a 2006 CBR1000RR, so I know what power is. I guess I will have to let someone hammer on my vette for a while, then well know for sure..... Maybe Rick Conti.
There is a pic of the Camaro.

One second in the 1/4 mile is huge - incredibly huge. A famous drag racer once said "The seat of the pants is the world's biggest liar". No doubt about it.
Enjoy your new Camaro! However, it won't be anywhere near as quick as the Vette...same power, lugging around an extra 500 lbs.

Exact reason i would never purchase a new vette off a dealer's lot with more then 4 miles on it. 50 miles on this car and you're "hammering" it. I bet that you never were considering purchasing that Corvette.
Oh, and I bet your 2007 is one of those that somehow slipped out of the engineering lab and ended up at the dealer's showroom with an extra 100 horsepower. We hear about them all the time.

Years ago the rule of thumb was for each 100 lbs, then it cost a tenth in the 1/4. Also the old rule of thumb was for each additional 10 horsepower, it was worth a tenth in the 1/4. Another rule of thumb, back in the day, each tenth was equal to a car length in the quarter.

Not a criticism, but did a double-take on the wide-body comment. Just curious what is it that makes you say it's wearing thin??
I'm still in the break-in stages with my GS Vert. I took it over a mountain pass I took my 08 over and it seemed faster and more powerful. It definitely handled/braked better.
