Default Lowering a C6

Hey guys, thinking about lowering my C6 in the rear to flush it out a little bit. Ive read how to lower and all that good jazz and to get a alignment if i do the front but...

Has anybody lowered them on the Stock Bolts and noticed any bowing of the wheels, camber, im curious to know if i do lower it, would it camber out any?

Thanks

The back camber goes more negative. You have to get an allignment on all four wheels. I lowered mine on stock bolts and the initial reading from the allignment machine was that every wheel was off. Spend the 125 bucks and do the full allignment. It will save your tires.

Yep. Both front an rear were out of factory spec. The alignment put everything back to stock specs. My tires thanked me.

Also, just lowering the rear looked real weird. I did the back first and the front wheel gap just looked horrible with the back lowered. Also, the headlights were blinding everyone since the rake of the car changed. Had to adjust those too.

I took the un cut front bolts all the way down. It looks perfect. Not to low at all.

For all practical purposes it may not matter much but FWIW...there's no guaranty your car was setup perfectly at the factory (mine was off). Just turning bolts an equal number of turns is no guaranty your car will be setup right. There are procedures you can do to essentially 'level' your car. It's not difficult but it involves measuring, adjusting, re-measuring, readjusting and following certain procedures. It helps to have a level lift you can drive onto. You may not feel it's necessary but if you're interested PM me. I have some rough instructions for adjusting the setup.

When lowering a C6, it does take a couple of week for the car to settle into its final ride height, when you're using the stock adjusters. That "elephant foot" pad on the bottom of the adjuster takes a a set over time, and as it re-molds to its new position it gets a little shorter.

It's less of an issue if the pads are oriented the same way to the lower A-arms. Couldn't hurt to make an index mark on the adjuster so you can lower in complete 360-degree turns.

I was reading the Z51 rebuild on here and he said something about lowering the car with coil overs. If you did that would you still have to align it? How much would coil overs lower it? I am asking more as an FYI.

Well getting coilovers give you the option to choose the height, rebound and all that, depending on the quality and manufacturer of them.
