I'm new to the site because I'm in the market for a Grand Sport. Classic mid life combined w/lifelong love of the car. I have been reading everything I can while I heal my torn achilles so I can drive a stick. I've owned many GM'sincluding a 69 427 vette and a 96 Z28. My experience with GM's has been great, & I gather the vette has good reliability ratings. However, I seem to read about a lot of C6 problems on this site. Some I attribute to cars being modified, some seem due to cars rarely being driven. For those who use their stock or near stock vettes on a regular basis, are you satisfied with their reliability?
Thanks.
2010 Grand Sport. 24,000 miles, some fairly hard. 3 oil changes, new tires at 18k, driver seat wouldn't move fore and aft - loose wire/plug. Love the car, less problems than any car I have ever owned, that includes 30+ new car & trucks (majority GM).
I drive my Vette about 12K miles/year. I'm on my 7th C6. Although I've never gotten more than 22K miles before trading, the C6's have all been rock solid reliable. I had one ECM go out on an 08 Coupe. Left me stranded for about 20 minutes. When it finally came back, I drove it to a Chevy dealer and had the ECM changed under warranty. Any other problems have been very minor. I'm so sure of the great workers at Bowling Green that I make Vette deals over the phone now. I recently bought a new 2011 GS Coupe from Bill Stasek Chevy. I drove 1000 miles to trade in my 2010 GS (with 15K miles), and then drove 1000 miles home. Great cars.
07 C6 w/ 25K on the clock, Few issues here and there with the driver's side air bag/seat belt light illuminted, A/C compressor went, rear differential noise, rear wheel bearings failed at 23K All repaired and completely satisfied. Currently on 5,500 mile road trip to WI and so far so good. The vette simply rocks!
If you haven't already read it pick up a copy of Corvette C6 by Phil Berg. A great full history of the devolpment of the C6. It will make you really want this car. I picked one up before my Vette purchase and I am so glad I did. Great info. I picked my copy up from Amazon.com and have also seen them on ebay. As for the problems you hear about on the forum I would think for every complaint there are 10 happy Vette owners out there but you never here about them. Everone is different but try staying with factory stock stuff instead of modding them. If you want a beast get the Z06 or ZR1 but don't try to make one of those out of a coupe or GS. That's where people start having alot of problems. Good luck. Oh by the way I have a 07 for my DD and the only thing I regret is not getting one sooner.
The C6 is very reliable stock or modifed. If you buy quality parts, have a good installer & tuner, then it should be reliable as well. I have over 120,000 miles on my 07 Z51 A6. I have driven from state to state with no problems. My Vet is my DD. Good Luck!
Most of the issues which I've read on this forum were related to the first C6 in 2005 which were corrected and improved on in later years. The other problems appear to be from owners modifying their cars. I had a couple of minor trim pieces on the "A" pillar replaced and differential fluid changed on my 08 vert.Thats it. Great car, very trustworthy.

Internet forums are like the news, if it bleeds it leads. People don't post "Nothing happened to my great running Vette today."
Just upgraded from a C4 1994 tthat was awesome. Now have a C6 2005 that I had a few problems that were immediately fixed, and I wish I had gotten one sooner. You'll love it.
My 08' has had no issues, 41,000 miles. I changed from a stick to the A6 with paddle shift, nice change. My previous vett was 2003 M6, sold it with 35,000, no issues either.
Any car can have problems. Sometimes you will see someone on the Forum that has a lemon, but for the most part the C6 has proved to be a high quality design.
