I have 37,000 on mine and have had to replace water pump at 32k and oil pressure gauge senser at 30k. That is not so bad. It has never left me stranded.
Go to any automotive forum and (amongst other things) you'll read about problems...it's the nature of a forum. All make cars have issues and Corvette is not immune. Sometimes there's no rhyme or reason....one car off the line is bulletproof and the one behind it is a lemon. You never know. If you've hung out here long enough I think you'll find the overwhelming majority of C6 owners are more than satisfied with the car and consider it reliable. Face it, Corvette owners are widely known for being almost fanatical about their cars and many have owned Corvettes for generations...they love them!
My 2005 is highly modified, sees heavy track use and over-the-years has evolved into a dedicated track car. It's well maintained and I run the proverbial snot out of it. It's been incredibly reliable and trouble free!
Thanks for all the great replies, and also the tip on the C6 book. This is more the general sentiment that I expected, and agree, this is the place to discuss and get help with problems. I'm looking forward to joining this group officially so I too, can feel like freeking superman when I back out of the driveway!

I'm glad this thread was made because a potential future C6 owner I was becoming a little depressed with all the problems being mentioned lately. That is until I realized I have a 2003 350Z that had been pretty solid and when I log onto the 350z forums its amazing to see all the random problems cropping up aside from the well known, that I don't experience. I also spent time today browsing other forums, challenger, lamborghini, mercedes etc, and it's just as you said, they all have their problems. One thing I did notice is just about every Rear wheel drive vehicle is prone to get a "rear end whine" no matter what manufacturer because I seen this as a common issue on all forums today.
That said, I still can't wait to get a VETTE and add an exhaust, even though I drive japanese currently, I defend the Vette to the death on other forums
My 08 had the rear end fluid change, seat bolster and brake relay replaced under warranty. They are a lot more reliable than most Honda/Toyota owners will believe.
I'm new to the site because I'm in the market for a Grand Sport. Classic mid life combined w/lifelong love of the car. I have been reading everything I can while I heal my torn achilles so I can drive a stick. I've owned many GM'sincluding a 69 427 vette and a 96 Z28. My experience with GM's has been great, & I gather the vette has good reliability ratings. However, I seem to read about a lot of C6 problems on this site. Some I attribute to cars being modified, some seem due to cars rarely being driven. For those who use their stock or near stock vettes on a regular basis, are you satisfied with their reliability?
Thanks.
90K miles on an '06 C6. None of the issues I've had (and in 5 years there have been a couple) would have stranded me. I'd drive it cross-country tomorrow.
Most of the issues which I've read on this forum were related to the first C6 in 2005 which were corrected and improved on in later years. The other problems appear to be from owners modifying their cars. I had a couple of minor trim pieces on the "A" pillar replaced and differential fluid changed on my 08 vert.Thats it. Great car, very trustworthy.
Wrong once again. Every single year has had the same issues as the 2005. The 2005 for one is going on 7 years old and it's not unusual for it to have more issues. The single negitive issue the 2005/2006 has over the others was the "Service Active Handling System" with the telescoping steering column. The 2005 does have a "weaker" differential but for most it is not a problem. DBS, all years with issues. Flying Roof Club, all years. Leaking oil pan, more so in mid years and yes my 2005 had that problem. Yes, there are more issues that all years have had problems with.
Yes, the C6 in any year is a reliable. Go for it...
I think you will find the C6 is one of the most reliable true sports cars money can buy. Trust me I researched several cars for about the past 2 years before decided to buy the C6. The Honda S2000, Mazda Miata and Nissan 370Z are also very reliable.. and are tried and true designs, but none will equal the C6 is all out performance.
I would have also listed the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger.. but those are more modern day muscle car coupes.. than they are true sports cars.

As I posted above, I did my research for 2 years and the 2005 definitely has the most problems. And many of the problems are not due to the age of the vehicle, but due to 1st model year issues that were addressed and corrected following each model year. How you would argue that isnt true, is pretty amazing.
While I will agree that all C6 model years can be considered reliable, I would also absolutely recommend buying the newest one you can afford.. and hopefully with some of the factory warranty left (either B2B or Powertrain).
Four Corvettes in thirteen years. Two C5's and two C6's. Only serious downtime was with the '06. M6 gears had to be replaced. Warranty covered it. Had the notorious diff leak on the '02, but again warranty covered it and it went away after the first dealer fix.
Compared to the other daily drivers I've had in the same time span, including a Toyota, the Corvette has been near hassle free.
16,000 miles in 14 months on my 2010 GS, and no issues/no complaints.

Then your research for the past 2 years is lacking. What is it with you that newer is better??? Seriously, post your research or move on.

Common sense tells anyone thats products updated on annual basis, will also have their faults, bugs and improperly engineered parts.. reengineered. Many people avoid buying the 1st year model of ANY vehicle for that particular reason, its never a bad idea to wait a year and let the bugs get worked out.
If you cant figure that out on your own or feel that strongly to disagree. Then thats perfectly fine. I have no doubt the vast majority of members on this forum will agree the 2005 C6 had the most "issues" and factory recalls.

I also agree with you that "some" first year models tend to have more design issues. It is not a absolute fact that all first model years will have problems. Yes, very much common sense. But where you are missing the point is that they ALL have had the very same problems. I did not say that the 2005 just becsue it is older has more problems. What I am saying which I'm sure you'll agree with, they will have more problems because they are older, period.
So less the differential, your 2007 is no better nor worse then my 2005, it's just newer model year. The 2008 and up is another topic.
I also researched and if you want to start another post I'll be happy to post my research for your reading pleasure.
