Just putting this out there (I searched and searched to no avail). I'd like my vert-top switch have a full-stop at the up and down location (touch and go for full up and down -w/o holding the switch!) and a momentary position as well. Anyone tried this or heard of such. Point being, when I put the top down or up it'd be nice to just give it one click? Suppose it could be like one of those 4-position window switches some cars have.
It's designed that way for a reason. I always look/listen as the top is going up or down. If there were any slight wierd sound or jamming I would just let of the power to save a possible disaster. The sunroof switch on my Avalanche operates on "auto" to open but you HAVE to stay on it for closing the roof - it's a safety feature that i personally would not want to compromise. FWIW.
Thanks, I understand the safety aspect, but so far 100 out of 100 cycles has not shown any deviation in the procedure. I would be confident in a full-cycle click switch, but with a stop in case things went crazy.
There are a number of sensors and swing panels that have to interact while the top is in transit from either open or closed. As noted, the rocker switch that is on there is the way it is for a reason. Have someone else operate the switch and stand out behind the car and watch the interaction of the tonneau cover and the truck lid while the top is in motion. If either of those panels had shifted or expanded due to temperature you run the risk of damage to the paint or the panel.
I agree and we need to be careful, and I have seen the full travel from outside. So far the whole thing has been flawless ... opening, closing and in-between to either direction. My thought is that they ironed-out all the probs with the '09 top, so a bit more automation may be in order?
What about other makes of verts, do any of them have a set-switch for full-up or down? This is my first so I have no idea. Thanks for the advise.

I have cycled my top about 800 times in 4.5 years and I also have never had a problem at all. It only takes ONE rouge time to mess alot of stuff up. The top cycles in about 22 seconds which is a very short time frame.
I'd love a mod like that if it's available, my brother can definitely make that happen, hes amazing when it comes to electronics... I'm gonna get that done and report back, thanx for the idea!

To DASH - aka "Brave-Heart" and "I am the only one on the planet to get what the heck you are saying dude" ... as I mentioned, there are "advanced cars" like the Penus and Corolla, that have 4-position window switches (1-full up, 2-momentary up, 3-momentary down and 4-full down), and a switch like that might work. Stay in touch and thanks ...

Either it's a really long 22 seconds or I have a really short attention span.
