I drove the car home today and it drove fine, no engine light...I talked with Jeremy at Fasterproms...awesome shop btw, he said its most likely a vacuum leak. This makes perfect sense to me. Thanks for the information, it gave me some piece of mind.
Question? Were you running the M2W in the loud position or were the valves in the normally closed position when all of this was happening.
With M2W removed, you were definitely running without the vacuum engaged at idle and the only time you would see a vacuum leak (depending on location) would be when you were accelerating.
With the valves in the open position at idle, any vacuum leak would have a pronounced effect on the engine function, hence the flashing CEL.

Just a thought???
I believe it was in the quiet position because I was listening to music on the highway. I know it might seem like it makes sense but the engine light has disappeared since I uninstalled the M2W switch and the car is running strong. Before I even noticed the engine light flashing, I knew the car wasn't running properly. I can tell if its idling rough or is driving weak. The fuse is pulled as well, I have never driven the car with the fuse in. All of this must have started when I installed my new OEM Z06 modded mufflers last month. I must have damaged the lines somehow. I'm going to make an appointment today with Jeremy at Fasterproms. I'm confident they'll be able to figure it out for me. Ill keep everyone posted.
Ok the car is now at a Buick/GMC dealership and is being looked at. My mechanic read it with the tech 2 and just like was mentioned: P0300...major misfire. The mechanic said it could be anything....that sucks. The weird thing is that the car drives fine with and without the m2w, and just yesterday the cel came on and started flashing and the car was driving like ****. This is the third time now.
The weird thing is its off and on. I drove it today to the dealership and it was fine. It drove fine yesterday to until the engine light came on again.
Same thing happened to me (minus the MTW switch). Turns out it was a valve spring that gave up the ghost and I lost compression on cylinder #4.
How did you find out what the root cause was? My mechanic couldn't reproduce tue effect today he drove it around, let it idle but nothing happened, no engine light.
Got a blinking CEL first, then an intermittent misfire, then a nearly constant misfire. Pulled the valve covers and could easily see that a valve spring was busted. In your case since it seems really random, maybe you have some valve float due to weak springs? How many miles on your car and which mods?
An easier check first of course is to check your plugs and wires. Something might be loose, or a plug might have gone bad.

My car is bone stock...just for this reason. I have 72,000 miles on the car. 40,000 on the new engine. Ill tell my mechanic to check the plugs and wires. How big of a job would it be to pull the valve covers and check the springs?
To check for a broken spring is a piece of cake. The mechanic will just have to take off the plugs and wires and pull the valve covers to take a look.
To take a look at each individual spring (if none are broken) to test its spring tension is a different beast though and will probably take a couple of hours of labor minimum. Each spring will have to actually be pulled off to do this.
I'm not sure about stock vettes, but I know England Green endorses putting on fresh springs every 25-30k miles for cars that are cammed.
The only code that came up was the P0300. The check engine light just goes away, no issues after I restart the car. Ive only driven the car in the rain a few times but its never acted up. Its done this 3 times: first time was right after a m2w install, second was after a 20 miles 30 min drive to the GFs apartment complex, as soon as I got there it started idling rough and the cel came on. Third time was exactly like the second. Drove to see my girlfriend and right when I get there...bam cel flashing and car is driving and idling horribly.
I really dont care at all what the problem is...I just want it discovered and fixed so I can get my car back
We noticed similar on my car. At a cold start the springs had more tension in them and could keep the valves shut, but once they warmed up, they lose tension and I had valve float.
you might want to ck around where you instaled the m/2w and see what fuses are near it .if you have made any changes to the car start back tracking from there . till you said it was right after you instaled the m2w i thought you had crossed a spark plug wire . you said you added another ex system ,ck the o2 sen. also, and remember the firing order is dif on the ls3.you may want to ck all you vac lines too. best of luck
