Default Seat Memory !

I have a 2010 grand sport convertible with 22,000 miles. Lately the seat memory is acting up. Sometimes it doesn't remember my settings plus the middle button won't work when I hit it to move the seat back etc. Yes, I have the emergency brake on. Sometimes it works sometimes it don't ! If I move it manually a little bit then push the botton it works.

They are a pain in the ***. I brought mine to the dealer and they fixed it, somehow. But before I did that I had just resigned myself to having to adjust manually every time.

Default Same problem with the seat memory!

I have the same problem with intermittent seat memory. The dealer says it works for them but in a few days or weeks, it fails again. This just continues to go on and on, I just got the manual out to make sure I'm not leaving something out. I will probably be returning to the dealer again shortly, probably get same treatment - very short time memory is good for a very short time, then fails in a few days or weeks again.

The problem is still there on the seat memory, hopefully the dealer will replace the moduel and hopefully solve the problem, try to setup with dealer next week if tech returns from medical leave.

Check the connections under the seat to be sure they're okay.

And while you're down there, check to make sure that no wires have gotten pinched. Since the problem in intermittent, the cause is very likely in the connections or wiring under the seat.

Mine is toast. My seat is stuck all the back and down. The memory module under the driver's seat is to blame.

Shelleygraham and SEVINN – have your dealerships have any input on what might be going on with your seats? Or are you going to address this concern on your own?

Thanks,
Laura

Laura,

I'm 100% certain that my issue is with the memory module under the seat since my telescoping wheel doesn't budge either. I'm experiencing the exact symptoms that quite a few have mentioned here on the forum, so once I'm able to actually remove the seat (I'm going to need an angled obstruction wrench to get the back bolts out) I should have mine resolved.

Thank you though.

There is an intermittant problem that, unfortunately, is not the seat module or wiring. Not saying that the OP is having this problem, but I've had it on two of my 4 C6s. Symptoms are that sometimes the seat will not move when either a memory or easy exit button is pressed or when the auto exit is activated. If you move the seat manually an inch or so first, the button will then work. Resetting the seat by unplugging and replugging the module 'fixes' the problem temporarily, so the dealer thinks it is cured. Replacing the seat module requires unplugging the old one, of course...

My theory, although unproven, is that it is the seat motor that 'forgets' where it is. I have just learned to live with it on my '09 Z06.

Hi Laura, I haven't made an appointment yet with my dealer. Is this the route I should take first ? It is really upsetting . I use it ALL the time. I only have 22,000 miles on the car and it is an expensive car. Thanks.

Mine was a bit flakey too but I actually prefer to have my seat all the way back these days, that is also the best exit position so for me, seat memory has become a non-issue. It always remembers the steering wheel setting and mirrors.

I just suggested going to the dealer because your vehicle is quite new and to save you from taking the time to do a DIY fix.

Thanks,

Would it be acellerated by swapping racing seat monthly?

Mine will not move after driving for 1/2 hour or so... wiggle it and it works 50% of the time
is it some how associated w/ the AH/ Telescoping wheel?

Does anyone know how to manually get the steering wheel to retract

It is not likely the seat module. Replacing it is only a temporary fix that results from resetting the system. Just my (experienced) $.02 worth. I believe the fault lies in the seat motor, not the control module. The motor has to have some sensor that lets it know where it is in its travel.

The seat module gets it feedback through a 5V analog position signal. If someone is curious and would like to monitor the way they work to try and diagnose the issue. PM me and I will send you the schematics and explain which pins to check. Basically it is a variable resistor wiper with the feedback going back to the memory seat module. We can test this signal to see if the voltage readback is dropping out. If this happens the seat module will not have any clue what the position is at this time. Therefore it wouldn't be the seat module at fault, but in the reference signal. But, if the reference signal is constant at a set position or linear during motion. (0 to 5 volts) and the ground 301 which is behind the driver's seat is good, then we have a possible issue with the seat module.

Once I get my seats out and working I would be more than happy to perform this test. Still haven't gotten my seats out though because I can't get to the back bolts.
