I agree drinking and driving is just stupid. No debate there. Either way I hope he recovers. I didn't post this to have him judged. Only to show that you need to respect any car with this much power.

As much as what you just said sounds a little "cold", I certainly understand your point. A few weeks ago a Corvette accident happened about a mile from my house at 2:00 in the morning. The Corvette was racing a motorcycle apparently and lost control on a major road in the Southeast suburbs of Houston. He lost control and went through a concrete "fence" into a back yard. His girlfriend was thrown from the car and died on the scene. He was intoxicated.
People need to learn to control their drinking and driving.

It's a public forum - people say what is on their mind. Whether you think its insensitive or not these are real world responses. We can't change human nature, but we can reflect on why it is what it is.
To the OP, as his friend I offer my sympathy either way. It's not a time for friends to be judgmental - just supportive. Good luck.

I'm glad your friend wasn't seriously injured. After seeing the photos I think it's a miracle both occupants weren't killed. I hope they're doing well. Like a firearm there's nothing inherently dangerous about the Corvette....it's the operator that makes it dangerous or not. I hope it's not the case but sadly, it sounds like your friend needed to show respect (or sound judgment) and not drive while under the influence. Drunk or not, IMO it was the driver...not the car.
Lets get some things straight here and finish with this.
I know its the driver, not the car.
This guy got this car last week and mentioned to me how suprised he was that the tires were almost finished with only 15k. It was also raining. Still the drivers fault but these both may have contributed.
It is obvious to me from the pictures he was going way to fast on a highway exit. This is right near my house and I know the road well.
I have no idea if he was drunk and wont make that judgement. In a single car accident the news often states that alchohol is suspected. Who knows.
I do not agree with driving under the influence. I have on occasion used bad judgement and driven after a few cocktails. I would have no idea if I was legally impaired but I doubt it but I admit I am not perfect.
Both parties are very seriously injured (I dont have all the details yet) and I only wish them both well regardless of the cause of this disaster.
I wont post again but will restate that I didnt post this to have this guy judged. Only to show what can happen if you dont treat your car (any car but especially one with this much power) with respect. Accidents happen !! I hope never to any of you.
Thanks to everyone who gave good wishes. DRIVE SAFELY

I heard about that wreck. Sad. The guy was driving drunk and they both paid the price.

WOW... I have no problem with the comments. You are right that it is an open forum. I just thought that people were judging to quickly. I am glad to now know the FACTS from you !!
How the %$#! could you know for sure he was drunk. Amazing... Can you give me some winning lottery numbers please.
Stupid is too fast around a corner, hitting a curb or concrete divider. Criminal is alcohol and driving. What's fortunate is the stupid criminals did not hurt anyone else. It's a hickey to all our insurance rates and image.

if it was raining and he knew in advance about his tires being very worn, that really is a deadly duo of circumstances to drive his car, new or old.

Good, thoughtful post. I hope the driver and his wife recover fully and, if he was under the influence, that he learned a lesson.
