What? He never mentions what caused his cars inability to enter fob program mode in the first post. It only states that there is a problem. I'm asking what was wrong with his car.

I agree. Why the sounding alarm? Why wouldn't it go into programming mode? Inquiring minds want to know.

I lost my fob and key. It could be in my garage, but I have torn the house, garage, yard etc apart and doubt it is. I tried for 6 hours to get the car to enter the program mode by turning the key, and manually moving the lever. Took it to the dealer to get the fobs fixed. They indicated they struggled at first, and then went through a multi step tech 2 process to program both new fobs. That's all I got... Maybe my car is from Canada or the connections are worn. Didn't have them diagnose this as I have other mods to spend on.

So they had to use the tech 2 to program and the trunk key method was useless. Well crap. You really need to find this answer. Otherwise, you could be towing and going to the dealer if another FOB issue arises.

Ok, thanks. I tried this just a few minutes ago and it works fine. The first time I tried it didnt work. But, the second try I turned the key as far as it would go( much further than what is needed to open the trunk) and I could hear a slight tick, tick, tick coming from what sounded like the DIC area but no beeps with each turn of the key. Voila! Sorry you had to go through that. I was just about to take my new fob to the dealer because they said they have to program it. I told them if I couldnt do it myself then no thanks but I read this DIY and it kept me from ultimately returning to the dealer. Thanks.

The tech just told me he believe it was he key it self. The new one I had cut this week he said was very tight and did not fully turn. He cut a second key for me and said it should work fine. I am scared to try it now that everything is programmed, but his analysis seems legit... I certainly don't want to spend another 150 on progamming fobs, and 100 in towing. the wife will kill me...

That being said the car is home safe and sound.

I programmed a 3rd FOB just to have one at the house at all times.

If you got a 3rd FOB you could check to make sure the key was the problem before you really have to know the hard way.

I know when I programmed my 3rd FOB I had a hard time until I realized I was installing the FOB into the glove box slot backwards!!!
