OK I am getting ready to lose my mind and desperately nee help.
I lost my only working fob and emergency key. I got a replacement key today, and have spent the majority of my day trying to figure out how to reprogram the a spare fob I have.
I have tried to follow every method listed in the owners manual, online, this forum etc., and am at my wits end.
The alarm keeps going off every time I open the trunk, and then once I turn the key 5-100 times, no DIC response.
I am extremely frustrated and ready to toss in the towel, can some one offer some insight?
when I open the trunk, the alarm goes off. it then disengages when I pull the cable and open the door. I have the car in reverse, glove box open, drivers door open (can't roll the window down). I put the key in the cylinder and get nothing on the DIC.
Okay, make sure the FOB you have is FAAAAAAAR away from the car. As far as reasonably possible. Not just out of the garage, maybe the farthest reaches of your property. Don't laugh, that has caught several guys trying to do this.
Then check these 2 tips found later in the thread:

Well, I moved the remote far far away, tried moving the lever manually until my fingers are numb, and still no luck. I am not certain which harness needs to come undone to tap the paperclips together so I am a little reluctant to try that method.
The DIC did say no fobs detected when I pushed on the acc button, but nothing regarding learning...
question - I do have the center console disassembled to make some shifter adjustments - could those harnesses being loose cause the DIC to not work? I wouldn't think so, but thought I would ask.
The fact that I may need my car towed to get the fob reprogrammed is making me sick. I can't believe a simple thing like this can be so painful. Sorry for the rant.
I understand your frustration and I'm out of ideas at the moment. That thread with the programming procedures is long and has lots of tips in it for difficult situations. I suggest you read through it. And also I suggest you send a PM to cclive, he's logged in right now, maybe you guys can dialog off line to solve this. Good luck.
Unfortunately, I've got nothing brilliant to add...except to read through the entire instruction thread and check out all the tips and tricks that others have added...there are many pages of them. The horn is going off when you turn the key because the passive locking is turned on or because you have manually locked the car. If the car is unlocked, the horn will not go off. I can't tell you whether the console being out has an effect or not, but you would probably want to put it back before the car goes to the dealer anyway, so I would try again after re-assembly. Good luck with it.
If the car has been sitting and draining the battery while you have been working on it, make sure the battery is fully charged, even on a charger when you try the programming. These cars are very sensitive to low battery voltage.
It took me a couple of hours to get my spare to work, kept hanging up at the 5 key turns and after my 30th try, bam got the message on the DIC.
The most unusual part for me was at the very end of programming, neither FOB was recognized...stepped away in disbelief...came back after awhile and bam, both FOB worked....Its a PITA for sure.

Since the key is rarely turned on any C6, this is a common problem when trying to get the car into the programming mode. The contacts on the switch that turns with the key are dirty or corroded and it takes a few turns in order to wipe the contacts clean. This is why I said (in the instruction thread) that the car does not necessarily respond to the first 5 turns, it may be turns 8 thru 12 that kick it in....or in your case, 26 thru 30!

I gave it a good solid 100+ turns and also pulled the lever manually and had no luck. The car went onto a flat bed this morning to the shop... your info was excellent on re-programming, just wish it could have worked on mine...

When you talk to the dealer, remember that there are two things they can do. They can just plug in the TECH II and force program the fobs and/or they can repair the system to allow programming the way you tried to do. Make sure you understand and are OK with whatever they do. In other words, they can plug in the TECH II and force program the fobs and still leave you unable to do programming yourself.

Well, it appears they ran into an issue wight the car yesterday as well. I spoke with them at 2pm and the tech was starting to program the first of my fobs in the parking lot, at 530 the car was not finished. I will be talking with them today to find out what the cost will be for each. Thanks for the info.
Curious if they gave any info why it would not go in programing mode.
No clue, the service guy just said they had some issues and went straight to the tech 2. Indicated the programming feature is often hit or miss in these cars.... I am just happy I get to pick it up tonight... havent driven it since I got my tint done...
