Recently I have been having problems with my inside door button. The outside handle works...the windows index when i push the button....but the door will not open....I kinda think it may be the actuator....anyone else ever had this problem or have any thoughts on the answer based on what i have shared with you?
Just had the same problem, took it to GM and it was my touch pad for the door and window. Mine started with the window now wanting to go all the way up and then the inside door button not working at time. Apparently a bulletin was put out a while back. Hope this helps.
Tar, I was about to say "replace the button" when i reread that you said when you press the button it indexes the window but won't open. That truly is bizarre.
Does the same thing happen on the passenger side? If it doesn't (and I really have no idea what the problem is) one thing you could try is to swap the button from passenger to driver and see if the problem happens with the working button on the driver side.
That could at least tell you if it's just a button malfunction (honestly, I can't imagine how that'd be if as it indexes the windows).
Regardless, swapping the buttons is an easy thing. use a not metal wedge shaped tool, pop the button bezel out of the door handle. Then disconnect from the harness. The buttons are interchangeable.
And if it turns out to be a button, it's roughly a $20 part.
Its the passenger door thats giving me problems and yes i have switched out drivers and passengers switches, did not fix the problem...I am open to any and all suggestions or thoughts....thanks so far for the responses.
A lot of these problems are in the door module which is inside the door. The inside door button and the outside pad are just contact switches that ground a lead on the door module. If the actuator in the door frame was acting up you would have problems opening the door with either the inside button or outside pad. Inspect the module connections and see if any of them are loose or corroded.
Don, Do a search for the thread titled Door Pads too !!! by teking.I know you said the outside handles work but if the inside release buttons are not releasing the door it could be related to the pads. It's worth a try.

Im having the same problem. Also my window is freaking out when it comes to the indexing once the door is closed. I am out of warranty but was told it is a power shortage in the module.
Mine is at the dealership currently...Universal Chevy in Wendell NC. Service advisor is Joe Parks if you care to contact him with any GM help......thank you!

TarHeelDon,
Glad to hear you’re getting your vehicle taken care of. Since your Corvette’s already at the dealer and I can’t provide any technical advice, I’d just suggest that you keep me updated with your progress there. If they are unable to find a fix for the situation, please send me a PM and I’ll look into this further for you.
Just got back from dealer with same problem. They tell me it is the door actuator inside the door. Sometimes mine works, sometimes it dont. When it don't, nothing on the driver door works. Hit it a few times (not too hard) and it starts working. They are going to replace my actuator Monday, I'll let you know if it works.
