Actaully - Onstar changed in 2009.
They now use a Tesla static generator to transmit
DC as microwave energy. The FOB still must be hung
from a nearby hi-voltage transmission line.

The mentioned jacking up the front end and running jumper cables to the starter is really the best way. No damage, and has been mentioned here on the forum several times before with good success.

I had a similar question... My car actually did come with a spare key attached to each Fob but there doesn't appear to be a keyhole anywhere in the car. WTH do you do with the key if the fob dies and you can't unlock the door? use it to break the window?

Theres a key hole over the rear license plate to pop the rear hatch. To the your left theres a hidden pull cable to pop the drivers door.

Happened to me. Same scenario. Bought the car from a local used dealer, who said he didnt have a key. Chevy wouldnt cut a key until registration changed from DMV, so I went 3 weeks without one, until the used dealership gave me a check from them to Chevy dealer for $40 for a new key. Get 2 or 3 extra keys. The B106@ a local locksmith cost me $ 1.84 each, look exactly like the GM key and work fine. Got a new battery, talked him into an extra fob and a gas card for my 'inconvenience'.
All is now good.

And when you do use the key, the alarm will go off, unless, of course, your battery's dead.

The alarm will only go off if the car is locked when you use the key or the door pull cables. The alarm goes off whenever the doors or trunk are opened in a way other than asking the RCDLR to open them, and they are locked. If the RCDLR is asked to open doors or trunk, it knows that you have the correct fob before it will do so...so no horn honking.
