Shouldn't have. Maybe they just look different in different lighting conditions. There have been several C6 colors that did that.

are you confusing Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic with Atomic Orange Metallic?

If not, my AOM paint looks different depending on the sun.

I just looked at the order guides for model years 07, 08, and 09. All 3 list that color as Atomic Orange Metallic with the same paint code as you've observed.

If you've noticed differences between cars with Atomic Orange paint, it's because of the angle, lighting, etc. The color changes drastically depending on the environment. For instance in modest light, it can even appear peach.

Yes but only the 2007 had a tint coat for the clear, so there is a slight difference you can notice. The 2007 has a nicer flop to th color change.

The paint color/code is the same, but the 2007's were AO metallic tintcoat where as the other years were AO metallic without the tintcoat step. GM claimed there was no difference in appearance, but I compared the 2007 I used to own to a 2008 and could see the difference.

They both are nice, but the 07 definitely is the better paint job in my opinion.

I have owned many, many cars throughout the past 50 years, and have never had more compliments on a color as I have with my Atomic Orange
Convertible. It definitely attracts a lot of interest at car shows and cruises. I cruised the famous Woodward Cruise tonight here in Michigan and probably saw 150 or more Corvettes, but only one Atomic Orange, and that was MINE! I am Proud to own it.....

FYI.....

The tintcoat was eliminated sometime during the middle of the 2008 model run. The early 2008's had the tintcoat (including mine).

I ordered my 2008 & wasn't expecting it to have a tintcoat.
I was surprised when the sticker said "tintcoat".
I contacted GM and they confirmed what I said above.

I've owned both, and it's really, really hard to tell the difference between the two. I seriously doubt that you could see it in photos. Surprisingly, although one would expect the tintcoat version to be the nicer of the two, my preference is the version without the tintcoat. It is a very subtle difference between the two, and I've looked at both in a lot of different lighting conditions.

This is the '09 without the tintcoat. You can see how the color shade from light to dark depending upon how the light hits it.

They probably looked different because one was detailed and one wasn't. After you have it cut polished it is a lot brighter and shinier.

I used to own an 07 and and an 09, but in a moment of weakness I traded them both for a 427 Vert! I could not really tell a difference. They both changed in the light. They really pop in the sun! I miss my AO Verts, but could not pass up the opportunity of the new one. I wish I could have kept them all!!!

FYI they only made 91 AO Verts in 2009!

The only colors that I have heard to be differetn from one car to another are the two yellows (Millennium & Volicity) and the Daytona Sunset Orange. Not sure why, but that is what I have heard.

I've got an '08; no idea if it's an early '08 or late '08. That said, Atomic Orange is the coolest color I have seen. It is so different depending on the light. Goes from nearly a gold metallic and back to different shades of orange. Love it. In fact, I loved it so much I bought one halfway across the country to get the year and the color I wanted.
