I bought my 07 AO convertible in 2010, I always liked the color. I don't think the previous owner cared for the paint like I do. After clay barring the car and putting couple coats of wax on it, it was like someone plugged the paint in like a XMas tree with how it lit up. Maybe that's why the paint looks "brighter" on some cars versus others. The metallic chips in it really pop when polished.
My favorite color. I bought a CRM which is also amazing. My wife hates orange and yellow cars so I wanted to get something that she would like too. Enjoy!
I love the DSOM and AO both equally. I've however seen more 2000-2002 camaro's in that color cruising around than I have vettes. Looked it up and they had the same paint code (71), but was just called Sunset Orange.
I had an 08 A0. I loved the color but there are different shades of it. I forgot how many. It is a hard color to match. A road gator hit my front bumper and when the dealer replaced it the paint never looked right. It looked fantastic in direct sun but under low light it was clear that the paint was different.
I do receive a lot more good comments in my 13 GS Anniversary though and it is basically white with a couple stripes down the middle. I had the 4LT sienna interior on my 08 and loved it but I believe the blue diamond 4LT looks better.
AO is a love it or hate it color though. I've heard some real nasty comments about it and I also heard some real fantastic ones.
[QUOTE=mojoman;1578431108]I have owned many, many cars throughout the past 50 years, and have never had more compliments on a color as I have with my Atomic Orange
Convertible. It definitely attracts a lot of interest at car shows and cruises. I cruised the famous Woodward Cruise tonight here in Michigan and probably saw 150 or more Corvettes, but only one Atomic Orange, and that was MINE! I am Proud to own it..... [/QUOTE
Same goes for Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic. It is a great color on my 2005.
Different years, different prices, so maybe a truly different paint?
I'm an Atomic Orange lover, too, so I thought I'd throw in my $.02...
I've been looking to buy an orange car for the past six months and have come close to my "perfect" 'Vette once, but didn't pull the trigger because the dealer seemed a little shady. But after reading this thread about differences--perceived or real--in the Atomic Orange paint for the 2007-'09 cars, I went back and checked the GM order guides for these years.
In '07 the AO paint was a $750 option; in '08 and '09 the price fell to $300. In all three order guides the paint code is the same--83U--and in the '07 guide it's simply listed as Atomic Orange metallic, and not anything about a "tint coat." In the '08 and '09 guides it's also listed as just 83U Atomic Orange metallic.
My point to this post is that perhaps there was a real difference in the '07 color because the higher cost might indicate a different process was used involving/requiring more labor and additional materials.
I have an 07 with the Atomic Orange with the tint coat and I agree with mojo man. I have owned may cars over the years but I have never had more compliments than with mine. It is seven years old and still gets compliments.
Love my atomic orange Pace Car. Always receives compliments on the street and at shows. Except one time my wife's friend told me the color looks like s--t. I told her opinions are like a--holes, everybody has one. I don't think she ever gave me her opinion again.

Atomic Orange makes lots of colors depending on the light.
Not so great in cloudy conditions, but amazing in the sun and particularly afternoon sun.
Gold metal flake creates reflections like no other color........look at the variations on the fender and mirror....
At one point it was a tint-coat, later changed to a clear coat.
Either way, I like it. Just wish there was less orange peel...
DSOM and Atomic Orange are totally different I have a 2006 (the last year) DSOM it has a more copper tone to it where as the Atomic has a more Golden tone to it. Love my color choice to death still get many many complements on it to this day. I would be all over it if they made the C7 in either one of these colors. Maybe in 2015 when I'm ready toget the C7.
I always was told 2007 had metallic Tint coat and 2008 and had clear coat, and I have got I Diff color code then from U83 # but I will half to get it for you in morning has it late to run out side to check , but must say I love color
The tintcoat was eliminated sometime during the middle of the 2008 model run. The early 2008's had the tintcoat (including mine).
I ordered my 2008 & wasn't expecting it to have a tintcoat.
I was surprised when the sticker said "tintcoat".
I contacted GM and they confirmed what I said above.
Correct, mine was late production and did not have the tintcoat,
