my 05 vette has occasionally thrown the service charging system, but recently, it went crazy. It threw the service vehicle soon, shocks innoperative, abs, check fuel system, low fuel, so on and so forth. Also all my gauges other than the rpms and mph went down. My AC also stopped working. Then if I shut the car off and try to crank it, it wont start until about 5 tries. When I let the car sit overnight, and starts and everything is back to normal, but after some driving, it begins the cycle once more.
This is a nightmare
One more thing, my diagnostic port doesnt work. its unreadable when u plug in a obd2 reader!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Also, im in Houston so anyone know of any shop here I can take it to that wont charge an arm and a leg, would help alot
Anytime i had charging system errors, it was a due to the headers or exhaust manifolds cooking the wires coming off of the starter. I just got done with the Woodward Dream Cruise here in MI, and after idling for about 5 miles in 2 hours and the engine oil temp over 205, the engine was being a pain to start due to the heat and throwing the service charging system. After cooling it down a few minutes, then getting back on the freeway the errors went away and everything back to normal. I ended up getting a smaller high torque starter and heat wrapping everything and it has helped a lot, but i still get it on occasion due to my modifications. Hope this helps.
The two things I would check is battery voltage, low voltages wreak havoc on these cars.
I had a similar issue and in my case there was a short that caused chaos. GM service was able to identify the location and fix, albeit my case was under warranty.
You didn't mention your system voltages. Operating voltage should be 14 volts +/- a tenth or so, battery should be 12 volts and system voltage should be steady. Anything out of the box will send the computers bonkers.
start basic and go from there. From what I've seen over the years when you get that many codes alot of times its the battery, or a bad ground , something of that nature.
I'd purchased a new Z06 that'd sat for over a year on the showroom floor. Some kind of powerful jump-pack was used to start it so I could drive it home; however, unbeknownst to me that battery was dead as a doornail.
Next day I go out to take my first cruise. Nothing & the electronics went absolutely nuts. I knew what was happening from reports I'd read here so called the dealer. Wasn't real polite in telling 'em to get their keisters out to the house WITH a new battery. They did & all was well.
So I took the battery out, went to Auto Zone. They tested it, and within a minute, the diagnosis was "bad battery"
I was kinda relieved because I knew I had warranty on it. So I take it to Sears(its a DieHard) They run their test, which takes an hour and a half. Then they come back to tell me, its working fine!!!!!!!!!!!! Im thinking they dont want to fork over a new one. So after much arguing, I finally get them to SELL me one, at a prorated cost. I pay 50 bucks for a new one.
GO home, install it, along with shiney new terminals. GO to push start... You guessed it. It wont start at all. Power is there. All light and accessories work, just wont start.
Had a buddy of mine come by in his c6. We installed his battery, same thing. All power, no crank!!!
Well guys, I need help once again.
What can it be? Starter? Column lock? wheel motor? Im stumped !!!!

Put your key fob in the slot in the glove box make sure the buttons are facing toward the right door. Try starting it. If the car starts then replace the battery in the fob. If you have the other fob try that one and see if the car will start.
What your asking for is nearly impossible without the proper diagnostic tools and experience. Hopefully you can read the circuit description in this JPG file. It could easily be something very simple and it could also be a real PITA.
