its actually much easier than any of these posts. all you need to do is set the 4 clips at the top edge where they slip over and with your hand just squeeze the top of the door (window down of course) in each location and the panel drops down just like at the factory, then all the plastic pins line up and a couple smacks with the palm of your hand and it's all done except for the torx screws.

That's what I call "doing it on a shoe string budget".

You must have the right touch., It did not work that easliy for me or most other guys I've talked to. The wire/strring method was a god send

It just might have something to do with the amount of friction preventing the the clip from falling down from gravity or the amount of angular tension from the design of the clip. On other jobs I have used paper wedged into sockets to keep bolt, etc. from falling out, also thick grease, tape, etc. Just get creative, such as the shoestring method, etc. The mind is a powerful tool, you just have to use it!

This is an awesome thread and I'll make sure to use this method but first I've got to get the damn things off. I tried pulling off the driver side and was scared to break something so I let it be.

So my question is, how do you pull these door panels off? I need to replace my passenger side speaker.

I don't know if the string trick is a sticky but it should be. Brillant. Took 3 minutes to put the door panel on. First I wasted 30 minutes trying to knee drop the top of the door. Thanks

i don't know why everyone makes this seem so difficult, you don't need any string.. you just have to place the panel at the top of the door, with the window down and with your hand gently squeeze the panel onto and against the door with your hand, lift the panel up slightly until you feel the tab pop into the groove and repeat for all 4 tabs ant the panel will drop into place easy as pie. you should see them GM assembly workers on the line they do it exactly the same way and it takes less than 10 seconds to install the entire panel. getting it off is by far the hardest part.
once you get the feel for it, it is obvious they engineered the panels to go on easy for assembly.

Keppler, thanks! The 16 gauge wire worked great. My door panel was squeaking over bumps. Turned out that all four upper retainers on the passenger door were not engaged properly.
I tried removing the weather strip and was able to install the retaining clips, but then had a difficult time reinstalling the weather strip. So I reinstalled the weather stripping and then used the 16 gauge wire to pull the upper clips into place.

By the way, the Torx screws take a T-30 driver.

I have had mine off several times. Each time, I get the pins in place then the last thing I do is smack the top of the panel. Goes right into place. Takes me moments....

haha, the thread was started in 2011, and someone recently revived it from the dead.

I usually don't like it to happen to older threads, but this one was a good one to bump to the top for some

Only the moron designers at GM would design such a crappy panel attachment design.
