I'm having a similar problem on my '09 Z06. Not very strong but still annoying (and sorta sickening) gasoline odor, mainly when driving around town with windows up and AC on. When I put the AC on recirculate, the odor goes away, as it does at highway speeds, and with the windows down at any speed.
So I assume it's coming in via the AC intake. Where is this -- at the base of the windshield on driver's side?
Car has had blower installed. No fuel pump work, but maybe some of the work under the hood involved fuel or evap emission lines.
Any suggestions?
I was going to suggest you head to the dealer as time-wise/warranty, you would still be good. Then I read the part where you installed a blower. That took care of the warranty. The bottom line is, if you smell gas, then you have a leak which makes for a serious safety issue.

Installing a blower shouldn't necessarily void the warranty for a gas leak in the opposite side of the car. Chevy would have to prove that the blower caused the problem.
I have 1 2007 with a bad gas smell after a fill up. I am careful not to over fill. I have taken my C6 in for service and the dealer tells me they can't find a leak. I think this is a bigger problem then Chevy wants to admit. Today my car is in for the forth time for this problem and I am feed up with the lack of service for this. I am going to push this as far as I can to get this problem fixed.

I had the same problem twice. The tank had a small separation in the chalking at the top of the tank where the fuel pump goes in. They replaced the tank ($1000.00) my cost GM paid for parts (car was out of warranty by a week or so). Had to take it in a second time (month later) they repaired it under warranty, said the fuel pump was bad.
Mechanic said he could not find a leak but found a small trace of gas on top of the tank where the fuel pump enters the tank. Mechanic said he used smoke to locate the leak but didn't see anything. Take you car to a different dealer. If it smells like gas there is a leak you don't have to see it.
Don't think we have seen the full effects of 10% and 15% ethanol/alcohol in the gas on fuel systems. Neoprene washers and plastic parts from the gas tank to the motor would surely degrade and leak at some point?

The car will still be covered under the 8 year 80k mile emissions warranty and a fuel leak, bad fuel pump connectors and gaskets are covered by that at no charge. Just tell them you are aware of the warranty and that you are afraid of fire danger from the leak. There have been others also that were covered under warranty if you search.
This is a link to another forum member's recent thread that had the same exact problem recently and it was covered under the emissions warranty:
I too, am having the same issue with fumes when I am over a half tank.
I went to the local dealership today only to have them tell me this was not a warranty issue. I have an 07 Coupe, 48K miles. What do I need to tell the service advisor to even get them to look into this being warranty?
What happened with my C6 was a crack on the plastic fitting on the driver’s side fuel tank. The driver's side fuel pump assembly was replaced. This took a lot of complaining as the service department pressurized and smoke tested the tank and told me there was not a leak. The service manager assumed I was over filling the gas tank spilling fuel down the inside of the fender and also told me to buy better gas. After a lot of complaining to the GM district rep and threats to take my C6 to another dealership I got them to remove the rear end and fuel tanks. Then the service department had to eat crow as then it was obvious there was a fuel leak on the high pressure fitting going to the fuel rail hose. Bottom line the only way to see the fuel leak was to remove the gas tank from the car. This was covered under the warranty after a lot of complaining.
Dealership took me for $1000.00. Had a small crack in the caulking at the top of the fuel tank where the fuel pump enters into tank. Dealer said it was a cracked tank and would no cover under warranty. After getting the tank repaired the gas smell was still there. Took it back to the dealer they replaced the fuel pump. Smell was gone. Turned out it was the fuel pump. Dealership replaced the pump under warranty (not my tank). I feel the gas was dripping from the pump and onto the caulking causing it to seperate from the tank. Long story short, bet its the fuel pump don't let them tell you different. Dealership has to replace the pump under warranty, not the tank....good luck
I have a 2008 base/auto, and have had the gasoline smell off an on for a while. I've switched gas caps with my mechanic, and we've looked everywhere for leaks.
I live in Kona Hawaii, and we lost our GM dealer - so I COULD REALLY USE YOUR HELP!!

The easiest thing to try now would be to make sure Not to fill the gas tanks to full. As soon as i hear gas coming up to the top, i shut it off. I don't wait for the nozzle to cut it off.
There have been reports where some have filled the tanks to the top and had gas smell pretty bad.
Have a 2008 coupe. Began noticing a fuel smell in June. Been to the dealer 2-3 times with no solution. Put a new gas cap on with no change. Strong smell in the in the garage and sometimes in the cabin. Isolated the problem to the tank being 2/3 full or more. Below this no smell. Back to the dealer today and apt for next Tuesday to have tank dropped to see if they can find something. Interesting about the neoprene gaskets in a prior thread.
Me thinks it's a carry-over issue on some, not all C6's.
The weld (glue essentially) breaks down at the bung which attaches the crossover pipe to the tank.
I'm reading the same symptoms as the late 03, and 04 cars.
And yes, the matter was addressed by GM but time is taking it's toll on some of the C6's. Maybe this is grasping at straws but that's my suspicion. A few things I would do is read through the link addressing the known C5 issue. Maybe start at page one and skip to the last page working your way back page by page till you fall asleep. If it all sounds familiar draw it to the attention of your service rep.
Fuel vapors are a safety risk. Don't light up any cigs. And document the issue with the NHTSA.

btw: there was never a recall, only service bulletin #10034684. GM voluntarily replaced parts on late 03 & any 04's with the fuel smell issue for a period of 10 years. Time is now up on C5's (unless the NHTSA mandates a future recall). That's why it's so important to document a safety issue with the NHTSA on their website.
Let's hope I'm wrong and GM did right with the C6. Just like the harmonic balancers, haha

Reason: clarity
Dealer has stated, he believes its the left tank. Smoke test should confirm which tank to remove. I asked him if the C6 has had the same problem as the C5. His answer was yes, but no where as the problem the C5 had. Down to 3/4 tank now. Smell isn't as strong as it was with close to a full tank. Gonna be interesting.
Well they did a smoke test and they saw it was leaking. They are dropping the tank to find out Monday. The adviser kept saying if we don't find anything you know it's $1200 in labor right now. I said obviously something is wrong if you saw smoke coming out. He also kept mentioning if my warranty doesn't cover it either I still have to pay them that $1200. Why would he kept pestering me about that? Warranty company should cover it as fuel sending units are listed as a covered part, etc.
