The fact they keep asking you to do it is because no one else wants to volunteer. Don't feel pressured. If you don't want to do it tell them so and why. If you're so inclined, participate in or help out with other club activities (an organization is only as good as what the members put into it). Corvette clubs are great if you're into the activities they do.
I keep getting approched by our local Corvette Club to use my vert for High School homecomings and other parades. I always pass due to the fact of people walking over my seats and maybe a fat azz or 2 setting on the cover, and it is a stick. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with this?
Thanks
you are correct in being apprehensive about the whole thing.
its just going to put wear on your car with no benefit to you.
to each is own on how we use our cars or who we let use them. Im kind of a fanatic so doing something like this sounds rediculous 2 me. My question though to all those who encourage this or tell of how you've done it with no problems is - how would you feel if the op agrees to it and his vette sustains some type of damage??? Unless some1 puts a gun to his head, it falls on the him but still - u encouraged it...

I have done this several times in both my 04 and 07. It is a lot of fun. The girls are very respectful of the car. It kind of gives them a edge sitting on a CORVETTE. It is memory they will remember the rest of thier life. It will not hurt anything.

I used to do it but not anymore. The carsits so low that it drags on the smallest rise when getting on the the field or running track. I never had any car damage using it for high school home comings.
I've used both coupes and a vert for carrying a queen in various parades. As far as the seats, I've asked the queen to remove her heels so she doesn't hurt the leather until she is seated on the hoop or toneau. I've also just used a folded blanket for the queen to step on in the seat. (this is easiest) I've never had a problem.
If there is a sign to use on the door, I've used ribbon to tie the sign around the door and mirror, or my favorite- I've used a roll of thin colored felt (colored to look good with the car) wrapped around my door and taped the sign to the felt. This works well when the wind is not too high.
I did some parades a few years ago. The kids/adults were always very respectful of me and the car.....most people really really like Corvettes.
I drove in parades many years ago with no problems. I had a piece of plywood sanded and covered to set on the pasenger seat for the girl to step on. The queens were always careful when asked to be and would remove spike heels when asked. My vert was Ontario Orange, I carried a black and a white folded mini blanket for the gal to sit on depending on her dress color. Just take charge in a gracious manor and most kids will be easy to work with. Usually, they love corvettes too.
Here's my little Homecoming Queen... My bare-foot-beauty Grand-daughter... (But she only weighs 60 pounds and doesn't wear heels!!!) No other tush has ever graced my waterfall!
I'm with you. I never volunteer unless I'm being paid. It's the American way. Idiots work for free. But then I get paid exactly what I'm worth, which is nothing. How about you?
