NCM Show
I went on a Saturday like I had for the last 17 years!
It was a farce!!!!!!!!!!! They ruined the show by making it Wed-Sat!!!
Car Show was on a Thursday!!! What a bunch of crap.
There wasnt 100 cars there on Sat!!!
Everyone ought to bitch at the NCM people running these shows. If it is a Labor Day Weekend Show, make it for the full weekend so people like me who work for a living Monday thru Friday can go. At least make the Corvette car show on Saturday!!!
I wont go again!!!

Had you not read the agenda to know that the car show had been scheduled for Thursday?
http://www.corvettemuseum.com/regist...ion/info.shtml
The car show is a "celebrity choice" car show and because of the addition of the inaugurial Baltimore Grand Prix American Lemans Series race on Saturday, many of the celebrities from GM needed to leave Friday to be at the race on Saturday, which is also why the Hall of Fame induction ceremony was on Thursday night because Ron Fellows was being inducted but needed to leave to get to Baltimore. You seem most upset about the show but unfortunately the "show" is only one event from an entire weekend celebration. The weekend is about celebrating the Anniversary of the museum.
Since you went last year you would then realize that the car show was on Friday last year and that this event has been a Wednesday through Saturday event for at least the last four years.
As far as there only being 100 cars there on Saturday, there were actually three different road tours out for the day on Saturday so many of the event attendees were on these trips.
There were over 500 people pre-registered for this event and almost all of them arrived. This represents a 10% increase over last year.
The agenda is always on line more than 5 months in advance of the event on the National Corvette Museum website.
And yes I knew what the agenda has been all the years.
And yes I have contacted Roc, who gave a pleasant response stating most people want this agenda.
I guess I am different.
Wow 500 people registered? That many huh?
I am being vocal because It is the only way the NCM might listen and adjust the show for next year so that those of us who do have to work Mon-Fri might be able to attend the show.
And yes, I used up my vacation for the C5-C6 show!
Maybe if they show was for the weekend like it used to be they would have more people come to it.

And what about when we used to go to Beech Bend and race our Corvettes? What happened to real Corvette enthusiasts? Oh, I forgot, you did have the Wine and Cheese Tour....sad.

You clearly want other things, that's fine. I don't think it is fair for you to now start dumping on the things that people do when they are visiting (and seem to want and enjoy), that's just sour grapes. Look, you knew what, when and where the event was. In fact, I looked and it seems we had a similar conversation a few weeks ago about the changes in the agenda. It's clear you don't like them. It's also pretty clear that some others do. You've started the same thread in three different forums to try to get a few more people to commiserate with you. I've replied in all of them just so folks can get the facts.
As to the drag racing, you'll have to take that question up with Beach Bend until the NCM Motorsports park is operational.
What's sad is that all you have left now is to ridicule the folks that did attend and enjoyed themselves.

So you are criticising me for asking for opinions and stating what I believe should change?
The NCM is for all Corvette enthusiasts!!!
How dare you tell me I am "dumping"!
I have the right to say my opinion and ask others what they think, just as you and the NCM can defend your opinion!
I expressed my concern back then, and I still went down on Saturday, did not see much of a Corvette show, and I am expressing that opinion now.
How about some other opinions on here?

As I said earlier, the NCM Anniversary event isn't a car show. It is a celebration of the Corvette museum.
What I found unfortunate was that when presented with facts about the event, rather than rebut them or try to discuss them you chose to belittle other owners and insinuate that they weren't enthusiasts because they went on a wine and cheese road tour.
It's clear to me now that you don't want to discuss this, nor do you actually want the NCM involved or listening to your ideas. It seems to me that you would just rather just be upset and hopefully get others to share in your opinion. That's fine too. You are entitled to do that as well.
I have a problem with people bashing the NCM, that's my prolem however. Your initial post came on a little strong especially considering you knew exactly what you were headed down to see and that there wasn't going to be a car show.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
He replied to me and explained the reason was mainly to fit Ron Fellows agenda, and the other people involved in racing, as they had to be in Baltimore for the ALMS race.
I fully understand this and feel the NCM did the best to make it all work. Roc also explained that they wanted more events at the NCM on Thursday, so that people that wanted to do a plant tour were in the area, rather then doing roadtours. That's why the tours were on Friday and Saturday.
Knowing all this, I still decided to go down on Friday and Saturday, even if that meant I could only do part of the events.
And I must say I did not regret it a single minute !!!
I talked to a lot of folks, made a bunch of new friends, went to the membership meeting, did the lifetime dinner,...
Yes, it was a more relaxed, layed back weekend compared to the C5/C6 Bash, but as said, I had just as much fun !

Beech Bend's regular schedule (Beaver, LTX Shootout, NHRA), excluded any potential NCM drag events for this Labor Day weekend. Regardless, I know that autocross has drawn more participation than drag racing recently. But, there may be an alternative venue available in the not too far distant future, without conflicting with Beech Bend, if you contribute to the NCM Motorsports Park!
A 'celebrity judge' car show can only be judged when the celebrities are available (obviously, the Baltimore Grand Prix came into play this year), but I believe that the NCM 17th Anniversary Agenda was clearly published.
For what it's worth, I've attended every NCM Hall of Fame banquet since 1998 and this year's was the best ever!
r.

You cannot always please everyone but the NCM staff tries hard to hit the mark.
Thanks, to all the staff especially, Wendell, Roc, Karen, Tammy, Megan, Vince and Sherry Clarke who coordinates the cruises.
