Default Hud

I have been looking at a C5 or C6. How many of these came without HUD? Will it hurt resale later down the road if I do not get it? I am looking at one with the Z51 package. It is a basic car but no HUD. the price is fair and it has everything else I want but that one option. Thanks for the advice.

On C6's the HUD is not a standalone option. You have to buy a higher level equipment option group to get it, that being the 1SB group in '05 and the 3LT from '06-'11 and now starting with the 2012's it is included in the lower 2LT group. I'm only guessing but probably less than half the C6's made so far don't have it.

The good news is now adding a HUD is relatively easy and cheap.......less than $400 for parts. Several members here offer installation service for around $175 and they travel to different parts of the country periodically. So......go for that nice car without HUD and if you decide you want it now you know what it will cost.

Is HUD a dealer install after market option?
Or is it best to have a vendor install it.
Thanks, Kliph

No. From GM, the Corvette HUD is only a factory installed option as part of the higher equipment groups.

Dealers "can" install one after the fact but it's very expensive because the only way they know how to do it is to remove the dash which is pretty close to $1500. Plus IMO there aren't very many dealers out there trustworthy enough to want them to do it.

Yes. I was recently in the market looking, and most of the cars that I saw at lower prices were 1LT and 2LT packages. Finding a nice 3LT, especially LMB was difficult.

That's what I was thinking.

OK. But I can't find him on the vendor list.
What am I missing?
Thanks, Kliph

He did mine. A very professional installer who even uses a proprietary harness that he developed. His phone : 860-989-8972. Everyone who has used him on this forum raves about his work. He also is a jet mechanic with the air force.
