Hey there mighty Forum,
I got my new yellow gauge faces from US Speedo, and am set to install them (first pic). However I saw where another member "Pipedreams" posted night shots (second pic), but am not digging the glow there, especially since my gauge will be a lighter color and maybe show the glow even more?
So I thought maybe I could paint the bottom of the needles and hubs to block the light-glow? What says you ...
I have stainless steel face plates and they have a "glow" at night which is actually pretty cool. I had US speedo install mine for free due to the issues associated with the install. Just do it and you should be fine.

I did the install and the glow is about 1/3 of the photo above. I taped the backs of the needle and center disk, but it needs the center disk free to light the full needle from underneath, so removed all the tape. Looks great and no worries, just a slight glow. The attached photo is almost actual ...
[QUOTE=wayback;1579048163]The glow is from the needles being mounted too high. Use the guage that comes with the kit and all is well.
I have the white faces on mine.
That's what I thought I did, but looking at the needle-gauge just now - there are 2-steps, so use the lower/shorter one, right? That would be about 3/32". That makes sense, closer to the face = less glow. Thanks Wayback ...
Kind of a pita, in retrospect I wish I sent it to US Speedo and had them do it (I will do that soon anyway, as one gauge is off slightly). If you DIY, make very precise marks on the side of each gauge to register the needle's rested position precisely (or take really good photos). Then when you turn the needles to loosen them from the pins -pull straight up as you turn. I had one pin come out and for whatever reason that became a problem with that one gauge. The other 5 gauges are perfect, except they are not quite pushed in far enough, as noted by Wayback above. So I'm going to pull it all out again one day soon and send it to US Speedo.

My tach is off by 100 rpm compared to the HUD. No biggie and I am not going to mess with it. My guess is that 80% of Vetts are off this much from the factory.
I would suggest sending it in if you can afford the down time. If US Speedo messes it up they will replace it free.

Hi! Quick question... is it okay to leave the needles not at the minimum setting (for example, not leaving the tach at zero) when you put it all back in the car? With the typical start up sweep of the gauges result in them going back to their correct positions? Thank you!
