Last Friday I took my 2010 GS coupe 6M to BeaveRun Motorsport Complex in Wampum, PA for a Flat Out Day. In a word, it was awesome! I highly recommend that if you have any interest in a track day and have an opportunity to do so, you try this. It is quite enlightening to see what your Corvette is capable of on the track. The torque of the LS3 is fantastic. I was in 3rd gear except for the two straights when I was in 4th, only two downshifts and two upshifts per lap. As you spend a lot of time on the brakes, you quickly learn that the capabilities of the GS brakes are truly amazing. I must say that there is something unnatural about doing in 120 mph + down a straight toward a blind crest of a hill and standing on the brakes. That is quickly followed by down shifting and going down hill into a hard left turn (Turn 1). For a beginner like me it is a difficult mental transition to go from Street: Gradually increasing braking to max when you stop -to TRACK: Start with heavy braking and end with light braking. I learned a lot about the car and my driving abilities and had fun! The instructors were very good and everyone there was friendly and helpful. I doubt that I will be doing this regularly, but it certainly was time and money well spent.
Been there done that....
Super way to spend a day.....
Just suggest that you change the brake fluid before you go to the track again....
