Default First Major Mod

Owned my 2010 GS for 14 months now so it was time to make a change I had been watching others do for awhile.

Took getting my nerve up to start removing fenders and front clip on a fairly new vehicle but I think it turned out just fine. What do you think?

If it's not obvious, the mod was changing out the headlights to blade silver and adding the stripes from my Heritage package. I did not allow the dealer to install them when I purchased my GS. They sat in a box in my garage.

Looks good. The silver plays off the chrome wheels and badges.

Looks good! I did not know that you had to remove the entire front end to swap headlights. Good to know if I ever have to work on them. You would have thought that GM could have made that a little easier though!

Yeah, it's scary but once done, it gets easier. I actually was able to remove the headlights with partial removal of most panel fasteners then pulling back the fender and front clip. Enough flexibility to pull the light out but caution prevails to protect all paint edges.

Took me 4 hours but could probably do it in 2 hours now. Broke one difficult clip/fastener and had to order a replacement. Experience counts!

I didn't have a low profile jack so I spent the first hour trying to figure out how to raise the car to remove the wheels. Put the car on race ramps, then jacked from the puck locations for the jack stands. Then I was able to access the center beam with my jack to take the whole car up off the race ramps.

As a result of that, I just ordered my low profile Omega jack. Not cheap but lesson learned.

Which race ramps are you using for your Grand Sport?

What did you use for a squeegee? I have to put my stripes on as well. Had one set done by decal shop and they were crooked. Just got a second set and want to install myself.

Your car looks great! (but I am biased )
It is the color I wanted but couldn't find private party used.
