Good Buy?
I know there are a million of these posts, but I have to do one of my own. I visited a north jersey dealer after work today. It is a 2006 Monterrey Red coupe with tan interior. Manual trans, heads up display, body colored hardtop, heated seats, etc. It has 18,000 miles. He was asking $32.9, we got down to $30.5 before I decided I wasnt ready to drive home today. This car is absolutely beautiful. I know some people like other C6 colors better, but this red I just cannot get enough of. I got there around 4:30 and left just as the sun was starting to go down, and I can honestly said the red got better and better looking as the sun sank lower in the sky.
This dealer does primarily very high end and rare cars, and had everything on the lot from Plymouth Prowlers to Bentleys. He went on and on about how he deals in only the best quality, low mileage cars. In the case of the Corvette, I was inclined to believe him, since the car looked pretty much new. Its a one owner car and he offered a 6 month warranty right off the bat.
I walked mainly because I wasnt ready to put the money on the table, but other than that is this a great deal or a fair deal? Should I wait for a slightly higher mileage car with a minor flaw or two? I am going to drive this nearly every day so I figure its going to get a stone chip in the paint sooner or later anyway. I think he is done at $30.5, he showed no signs of going any lower even when I walked out. $30k was the absolute top of my budget, and I was hoping for something like $27 or 28, but this car really could pass for new.
Thoughts? Here's a link to the car.

It looks like a nice car for the $. Look over the Car Fax as the website doesn't bring it up. Make sure it's clean with no issues. I'd say fair price if it's clean.

SOUNDS HIGH FOR AN 06.A guy on here got an 07 w/13k for 30 grand last year or earlier this year I should say.Should be in the 26- 28 grand range I think.Used 08's can be had for low 30's.

Someone will always chime in and say its too much, I got better deal, blah blah blah. If it checks out and it is the color and options you want, don't let a couple of bucks one way or the other stop you. JMO

I'd say that's in the right price range for a car that's been taken care of like this one appears. That being said, if it's the exact color/options you want it would be worth that.
Have it checked out mechanically though just to be sure and run a GMVIS on it at a dealership for prior problems.

You should order Mundo's book and see how to save 5 or 10 dollars
Good luck with your decision, but I would not let $500 be a deal breaker when everything else on the car is just the way you want it.

Point of reference. Last April, I sold my Monterrey Red, Cashmere, Nav, 06, 17k mi for $27k. (I got in a hurry to buy a ZR1)
That is a great color. When it is clayed and waxed, the evening sun just makes it pop. People would comment on the color when stopped at stop lights.

If it has the options you want and it's condition is #1 don't pass it up ...
If you wind up going out of sate you will suck up $1k in misc. expense before you know it .. Assuming you are not getting raped, BUY THE CAR YOU WANT, do not compromise ............

I know that I paid a premium when I bought mine but it is the color and options that I wanted and was close to home. Sure you can go online and find one 2000 miles away that may be cheaper, so what. You can burn up lots of time and money looking for a cheaper one that you may or may not find. You could find one cheaper, but needs tires, so did you really save anything? Good luck.
