My parents drove with us 4 kids in the backseat of the 67 Malibu, no seat belts in the back at all. I rode my bike without a helmet during the Evel Knievel days, somehow managed to survive. I guess sometimes ignorance is bliss. Today we have a seatbelt for our dog.

Let us review this car seat thing. All children have to be in a car seat or boaster seat unless your operating a school bus. You don't need any restrains not even a seat belt, children are free to be thrown about and ejected from the school bus, at any time. We just had a school bus accident, fortunately no serious injuries even though the bus landed down a bank. Go figure. Oh, you don't need a car seat in an airplane.

Don't let me see a baby (<3 yrs) in a Vette front seat, not here. That will win me the toaster oven for tickets, AND a mandatory court date.
Use the SUV with the DVD player to transport babies.
Now, if you want to drive a child around a parking lot, fine, but stay off the street. Common sense.

I don't know all the laws here in the US regarding baby seats in cars, but maybe someone here may know something from previous experiences:
1. Can you put a little child in one of those baby seats attached to the unoccupied passenger seat of a Corvette while traveling? I ask this because I thought I heard that a baby seat can only be legally attached to the rear seat of a car (obviously, we don't have a rear seat).
2. Can a baby be held in the arms of an adult riding in the passenger seat of a Corvette?
I am getting the feeling because we only have a 2 seat car, it is impossible to legally transport a baby in a Corvette in the US.
Any truth to this?
Thank's
Ron

No ... holding a child in a moving vehicle is dangerous as hell.
I was just asking because I see it all the time being done in the Philippines. I was assuming it was more than likely illegal here in the US, but didn't know for sure. I used to see it being done here in the US a long time ago, but I figured it was more than likely illegal by now.
My real question was .. is it ok to put one of those baby seats in the car since we don't have a rear seat.

It use to be legal to carry a baby in someone's arms here before but too many idiots start suing car manufacturers and insurance companies for their stupidity. That is why our government mandates seat belts now in most states. Personally I think everyone should have a choice to do what they want but if they get in an accident then it is their problem, not their insurance company's.
Rear facing child seats, which are mandatory for infants, are a big no-no in the Corvette. I used a front facing seat since my son was about 3 and now at 6 he is using a booster seat. He is so far away from the air bag that the air bag or seat would have to move about 1-2 feet for him to hit it if it fired. That would be one terrible accident since the C6 pax compartment usually survives a major crash.

A baby (under the age of 1) would certainly be illegal in any state ... period

I can't say for sure but I would imagine that it has to be legal. What if it was your only car and there was an emergency?
