DIC Message - 158 MPH
After driving my 2009 Corvette for about 20 minutes, a message appeared indicating to Service Ride Control and another message that indicated speed limited to 158 mph. So this is the first time I have seen this message. I had the oil changed in the car and I did notice they reduced the tire pressure from 32 lbs to 28 lbs in all four tires. Would that be the reason for this message to appear since I have read in the manual about pumping tires to maximum if you are driving at high speeds.
Has anyone had this message with their F55 system? Was the problem simple to correct and what corrected the problem? I Plan on pumping the tires back to 32 lbs and see what happens but that just seems to simple of a cure.
It is not like I plan to go over 158 MPH but would like to know why the limit since 165 seems to me about as unsafe as 158 MPH. Is the logic based strictly on the suspension system or other parameters?

Interesting I didn't even know there is a limiter or speed warning in the LS3s I thought it was just a German car thing. The tires are extremely weather sensitive in my 09 Z51, as soon as it got a little colder for a couple of days the sensor shows 28psi, when the spring started I had to keep deflating them because they were starting to go up to 32 just sitting on the driveway. Anyway, I hope somebody has an answer to your question, good luck.

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the tire air pressure. Indications are it's a problem with the Magnetic Selective Ride Control.

in the Selective Ride Control system which causes the

and MAXIMUM SPEED 80 MPH (129 km/h) will display
together. See Selective Ride Control on page 4-9 for
more information.

Thanks for your comments and I also read that in my manual but the difference is the maximum speed - not 80 MPH but 158 MPH. That seems like it would be a different issue than what the manual is indicating.

That is the problem with electronic controlled things, they usually don't break as often but when they do watch out.
Try putting the tires at 30 psi cold and see what happens. 28psi might be triggering something to limit your speed somewhat.

Its 2 psi (i know... duhhh) but I cant believe its programed that sensitive... 2psi is nothing.

Totally agree. I was getting random "service active handling" messages every day or so. No codes would show up on my scan tool. My neighbor and his wife work for Interstate Battery so I had him pick me up a new one. Haven't had the message since.

Low battery can cause all kinds of weird messages.
Mine said to service magnetic shocks. I don't have that
option on my car. Got rid of the factory Delco battery and purchased an Optima.
Problem solved.

I've had that 158 MPH warning show up both times just before the alternator died. Keep a close eye on your voltage, as the problem may be intermittant.
Go back to the place that did the oil change and ask them exactly what their procedure is, may help narrow down what they touched (even inadvertantly) that could have changed something.
Tire pressure, too high or too low, will not activate that warning.
Also check the electrical connector on the top of each shock, the connector on the sensor, and the mechanical rod on the sensor that attaches to the suspension arm. If any are loose or broken, that would also activate the warning.
The 158 MPH figure must tie into the traction control for some reason, because without turning it off there have been a couple of times that has limited my speed. Once I turned off the traction control, I could easily go faster.
I don't have a clue why they picked 158 rather than any other speed. It translates to 254 KPH, which has no readily apparent meaning either.

I had this problem with my 08 with F55 when it was just a few months old. It was intermittent, unrelated to anything.
If you bring it to your dealer while the message is showing, without shutting down, they might troubleshoot it right then. In my case they changed the right front shock because it showed a low voltage, but the problem came back in a day or so.
Then they gave me a recording device that plugs into the OBII computer connection below the dash, and I drove the car for awhile but the problem didn't reappear.
A few days later it reappeared and after the dealer contacted GM they were directed to a faulty wire that was known to cause this, and they replaced the wire and the problem never came back. As I recall, the wire ran to the right front shock (in my case).
It's not a huge problem, just a bug.
