Hi, I have a 2006 Corvette that I purchased brand new back in April of 2006. The car has been babied with only 22K on odometer. I've never tracked it and barely get on it. Heck, I still have the original tires on it..lol I've been hearing a noise for the last month or two. It sounds like a rattling noise coming from the rear of the car. I took it in to Stewart Chevrolet and they confirm that the noise is coming from inside the transmission. Now my warranty expires in 4-2-2012 so I am covered -$200 deductable....Am I in my right to demand a new transmission? I find this odd that a car that is always garaged and is driven on average of once every two weeks, never abused would have ANY issues with the transmission..Forgot to mention this is an A6 tranny. Has anybody out there had transmission issues with this year Vette? Your recommendations on how to pursue this and what I should be entitled to is most appreciated!
The A6 is generally quite reliable if not abused, but anything can happen.
If they want to do a repair instead of replacment, try to find out before they get into it and see what they would charge you to do the replacement instead. Sometimes a deal can be worked out.
So it's a 50/50 chance of getting a new tranny replaced? I would imagine that the warrant if the tranny is fixed is one year beyond the repair date..IMO, seeing that this vehicle is low mileaged and never abused, tracked has me thinking I got a bad tranny from the factory to begin with. Coming in with a 50-100K mileage and crying foul is one thing, but 22K? This is rediculous. I hope GM will see to replace this.
@Gearhead- I still have my warranty good for 60K or 6 years so I'm covered either way whether it's fixed or replaced..At least that is my understanding.
