Took the battery cables off today to shave the crud build up and when I put it back on the car windows do the usual window rolling down slightly/indexing - but when I close the door again it does go back up into place. Anyone know a solution to this one? Help greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Did it today. I forgot what exactly to do but I remembered at least to hold it in one position either up or down. So, held the two switches down for 5-10 seconds and that did it.

Try it, you'll like it!
Only thing I've ever read in the Manual (or heard about) was this:
Window Indexing
This feature automatically lowers the window a
small amount when the door is opened. Then,
when the door is closed, the window will raise to
its full up position. If either window does not
index properly, it could be due to loss of power.
Before returning to your dealer for service, perform
the power window initialize procedure following.
Power Window Initialize
After a power reconnect such as battery
replacement, the window index-up feature will not
function until the system is initialized. Once
power is restored, do the following:
1. Close the door.
2. Raise the window by pulling up the switch.
3. Hold the up switch for three seconds after the
window is closed. Release the switch.
4. Hold the up switch again for three seconds
and release.
Not ignoring you question but if you are getting a lot of "crud" build up at you battery connection you most likely have a battery that is venting where the post is cast into the case. The world will not end if you put up with the situation, but check out the web and you will find that the manufacutre should be willing to replace it if it is still under warranty. I made the mistake of "putting up with it" on the wife's Lexus RX-350 but on the 3rd cleaning the battery connection, the cable clamp broke as it was nearly eaten 1/2 into (not the heavy duty lead connectors of the good old days). They replaced the battery and cable under warranty.
