Just my imagination?
Perhaps I should know this, but as a new owner ... I have a question.
Driving the car (2007 convertible) for the first time after a few days, it rides like an old truck - overly solid, heavy, sluggish - not what I would anticipate in a sports car. HOWEVER ... maybe 5 - 10 miles into the ride, it's suddenly a different vehicle - agile and smooth.
So, is it my imagination ... or does the suspension/ride tune itself a bit as the miles pass?
The perception of improved handling might be just an old guy getting a kick out of how many "challenges" surround me when I'm driving the Vette. Seems everyone wants to measure up to the C6 ... sometimes it's a BMW, sometimes an Audi ... Sunday it was a Ford Focus! Makes me smile cause they would have a better chance getting a race out of me when I'm in the Taurus.

Cold tires vs. warm tires. Ever see race cars zig-zagging back and forth on pace laps?
That's what they're doing.

fyreline, have to partially disagree with you on why race cars zig zag on pace laps. Most of that is to prevent build-up on the tire since they tend to be rather sticky when warm and will pick up a lot of junk while rolling on pace laps. Makes for a much easier restart with less tire spin when you have clean tires. With new tires though, they will do some zig zagging to get some heat into them on colder days.

Agree. Cold tires. I can hear the neighbors now ... Why does that guy always zig zag down the road? Is there something wrong with that Vette ... Or can't he handle all that power?
I'll just put a pillow under my butt for the first ten minutes, then will be good to go.
Thanks for the info!

You haven't posted your car's options in your profile. From your description, I strongly suspect you've got the "sporty" Z51 suspension. Lots of folks here seem to like that option. I'm not one of them.
If your car still has them you might try replacing the OEM GY runflats with Firestone runflats. They're supposed to have a much better ride. No matter what, don't get talked into buying non-runflats.

Yes. I had that sensation after work today. I attributed to my tires. A few miles later, and once they warmed up, all was right with the world.

There are other ways (drilled rotors, P/S cooler, grease fittings at rear suspension, etc) that suggest the Z51 but might be added after production.
You can get a copy of your window sticker from the Corvette Museum, a nice thing to have.
