Air intake
Maybe other posters will have long experience with K&N and found them quite acceptable.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I threw in the in trash.
I then bought a k&n, they end fell off of it allowing unfiltered air right in.
now i have a mamba, we'll see.
for the money that these intakes costs they are terrible quality.

And please don't post the same question in both the general and tech/performance forums unless you get no response in one or the other.

In my case, I installed an Airaid CAI. What I experienced is a slight roughness in the idle (A6 trans), especially when the engine is not yet up to normal temp.
It's not bad at all, but still noticeable when stopped and idling in 'drive'. Don't really notice it when idling in neutral or park.
I am getting a Chuck CoW tune on the car in a few days. Hopefully the tune will fix this.

In my opinion, the VARARAM intakes have always performed the BEST and
it's not likely that anyone is going to argue that.
Here at Corvettes of Westchester, I got involved early in this game and
without too much trial and error, I determined that the VARARAM line of
products was the best performer... Not just on the street, but from a
tuning perspective, the design is the best one I've seen so far....
VARARAM has used the same design more or less from 2005 to the latest
C6ZO6 model (LS3 included).... The latest design does not change the function
much but looks great and fits real nice.
I've been trying to tune some of the other intakes to hit the market lately
and quite honestly, I've had problems with them and have even had to
refuse tuning for customers with those intakes as the results are poor and
driveability is worse. Sad thing is, when I try to tune them, I end up wasting
hours of my own time and that's something I don't have much of....
One of the posters in this thread "knows what I'm talking about"...
We tuned for HOURS and when it was done neither of us was happy and he
ended up removing and selling the intake, and now we need to start over again.
If you have plans to purchase AutoCal and or just simply have me tune
your vehicle, Please understand that I'm gonna pressure you to use the
VARARAM because, not only do I believe in it, but I've tuned HUNDREDS
& HUNDREDS of C6s with the "SAME OLD VARARAM" and it
never gives me a hard time and always performs GREAT.
Why would you NOT use what I recommend???...Especially when I've done it
soooooo many times....
What it all boils down to is that YOU WILL JUST SIMPLY GET THE SAME GREAT
RESULTS AS EVERY OTHER CUSTOMER..... NO GUESSING FOR YOU.
While we have successfully tested a new "MAF FORWARD" design, the
many other designs like that I have tested, all had problems....
Personally, from a tuning perspective, MAF FORWARD intakes don't work....
In just the same way water turns into a vortex type tornado when it goes
down the toilet, the air in the filter swirls as it enters the MAF SENSOR
area confusing the hell out of the sensor and the pcm....
There were some intakes in the past called "VORTEX" or something....
Wonder why they never became popular....? While the word "VORTEX" sounds
cool and "HORSEPOWERy"
to most.... that vortex-toilet-swirl-tornadothat occurs is the ENEMY!
The VARARAM is a very intelligent design and not a random filter on a tube.
Not only does it look cool..... But, it FREEKIN WORKS!
VARARAM!

*Would of cost me $10 total if I used my GS LS3 housing.
* Cut rectangular hole in shroud and fabricated a box to seal it up.
* Removes as easy & quick as stocker. Can clean radiator while its out!
* Time slips and pics located in 1/4 mile list under Grand Sport.
PS: no surge, runs just like it did from the factory. Air pickup located up high so no water worries. Looked much cooler before I added those "rubber" seal strips, i.e. better than stock.
Edit: I "think" Big Blue sales a lower restriction air filter for approx. $130 that fits the Z06/LS3 OEM assembly that according to them adds approx. 5 hp over the stock filter.
