Default Air Coupler Question/problem

I purchased a red smooth air coupler from a well known vendor. Today, I was looking at my stock coupler and see two possible issues. It looks like the coupler I bought is longer than the stock coupler and second there is some sort of tube/sensor that goes in the stock coupler, whereas I don't see any whole in the picture for the smooth coupler. Any ideas suggestions? Do I have a problem with this purchase/install. I sent a email to the vendor but won't hear anything till tomorrow. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The hole is the source of input filtered air for the PCV system. You could just drill a hole in the smooth coupler and push in the barbed fitting. I think a more elegant solution is to use a small breather type filte on the end of the tube. You'd have to extend the tube to do that, however. You could also extend the tube and insert the end into the air filter output side- some creative engineering will be required for that.
