I need help with a decission. A frind of mine has a new car dealership and just took a 2006 silver 3LT z06 in trade he has offered me. The car has 94K miles on it and needs new tires and a small repair on the rear fender. I can buy the car for 25K as is, I drove it and it drives great. Is this a good deal?
I agree it's a lot of miles. But that sounds to me like it was used as a long distance DD and if that's so, maybe that's not so bad. You're in an area w. lots of Corv. places; have it checked out. And the price thing may be as above re KBB.
Finally, ask yourself one question: if I buy it and something major goes wrong, have I got $10K to fix it? Because that could happen.
I wouldn't dismiss it just because of the miles... maybe just an easy 60-mile daily highway commute.
What's your intended use? Weekend toy, project car, or ? Might make a nice track car. But if its an only car & daily driver, forget it.
Also, if you have to stretch to afford it, forget it. You've gotta have $$$ for repairs -- starting with ~$1500+ for tires. You'll hate it if it becomes a $25k anchor in your driveway.
Although, $25k for a good-driving 06 C6 Z is very very VERY tempting, regardless of your situation.
Anyway, as others suggest, definitely get it checked-out before you decide.
for the input, i have an 07 A6 now so yes the Z would spend most of the time parked. From what I understand it was a daily driver for this guy that drove 100 miles a day to work. I drove it today and wow it is a different animal, sooo much more power, I don't think I would want to drive it every day.
not your friends car, but a car his dealership took in on a trade-correct?
so in all fairness, he really doesnt know the entire history either..
could be a great buy, but 4 me would never buy a high mileage vette
Too many miles and too high of a price. I don't know what your location is, but I searched on the internet for over a month, before I bought mine a few weeks ago. There are too many Vettes out there like that for a lot less. I think the car should be going for around 22K. And if you ever want to sell it, those high miles are really going to cost you. You'll be lucky to get half that much in a few years. No one wants to buy a car right now with almost 100,000 miles unless it is priced really low. Plus, the car is at a point where a lot of things are going to need to be fixed/replaced. And that is going to get expensive. Just my opinion.....but I'd pass.
