My dad had a 1958 Ford Galaxie 500 with the 352 Interceptor engine. That car would kick some serious butt. I never saw him get beat in that car. When some kid would pull up next to him and want to race, he'd look over at them and ask, "When do I get my popcorn?" That would really tick them off and I would crack up! They'd take off and he'd bust their butt. I'm a Chevy guy now, but that's the line I use to this day............
IMO HP is nice, but if you do not drive your car, then what good is it. I just tell them the miles on my 07 & if I wanted a souped up civic or what ever, I would have bought one.
I get the younger adults in the gym always talking about their friends cousins brother with the Honda or Acura that will beat my Vette. I wonder if I was that amusing when I was their age
I wouldn't yawn to much...some of those 4 bangers WILL beat a stock vette in the 1/4 mile. Of course they are modified but never-the-less they are 4 cyl's.

Oh I know they can be fast, but that is all I hear these days. These 4 bangers with the fart cans buzzing up and down the streets. That is what the yawn is for, boring. Let a vette or an old muscle car drive by with the V-8 screaming and that will get my attention. The 4 door camry with the exhaust does nothing for me
It only happens in Texas. When I come to Big Bend Open Road Race I get tired of talking to locals about my car and there is 100 cars around better than mine.
Same here. I dont have that problem and I hit coffee & cars with plenty sports car friends every month. Its all about the people you hang around with. Insecure people always need to brag, showoff or compete.
I'd bet the people who get challenged the most about how much HP they have.. arent necessarily innocent either. I've seen plenty of guys who cant wait to yap on and on.. about what they've done to their car or what their car is capable of. Is it really a surprise that once you go down that road, that someone else claims to know a friend with "a lil more".
not to many questions about my HP. My fav. is when I go through the neighborhood and all the kids point and yell cool car.
There is an outdoor mall here in Columbus (Easton) and in the summer I usually do a drive through and people are always giving compliments. I had a lady on her wedding day at Easton want to take pictures with my car...hahahah
