This is my first Corvette, and I've been driving around town for two months with my new Grand Sport. Fellow Corvette owners drive up along side of me and do this "wave" thing with two or three fingers. Out of innocent obligation, I respond with the same. I don't even know how many fingers I'm supposed to raise.
This is so funny! With all of the other sports cars I've owned, I've never been in this sort of scene before. LOL
Seems I read somewhere about this "wave" thing. Could someone fill me in?
There is no particular way to wave; the important thing is to just do it. It is one of the coolest things about being in the Corvette fraternity and, as far as I know, it is unique to the Corvette community.

Are you being serious? Seriously, are you serious? Cause I have never owned a Harley and I know of the Harley wave.
I believe the "wave" began after WWII when soldiers brought home British sports cars from Europe. They were a rare sight on the road, so they would wave to one another. Years ago I had several MGBs and a Triumph TR8, and it was common to wave to other British sports cars. Of course, some MG owners would only wave to MGs, Austin Healy to Austin Healy, etc. I had one of the first Mazda RX-8s, and when it was new and rare, we waved. The key here is that when there is a unique vehicle that owners love, they feel a special bond to others who have that special vehicle. As far as how to wave ..... it doesn't really matter. You can do the "V" or thumbs up or the Miss America wave or just hold up one of your hands.
Not just Harley's, its all bikes.....In Edmonton very few wave but I do notice they flash the high beams ...which is Ok
Here in California, most bikers wave at each other when passing going opposite ways. Doesn't really matter who made the bike (mine's a Yamaha VMax). I haven't gotten a high beam flash yet, and I've been riding since the mid 70's. Different areas, different customs I suppose.
I've only been waved at once in my 2 years of Corvette ownership. There aren't very many around here.

I had a V-Max for 15 years.
Yeah, most bikers wave here.
Heck. I ride so much, I wave at bikes when I'm driving a vehicle!

Acknowledgement of the other vette is the most important thing.
Any wave is fine !! Just glad you are a waver ! I find there are still a few left out there. I wave to every Corvette I see, no matter what I'm driving. Just a habbit formed many years ago !!!

This is actually funny. I've owned bikes for many years including several Harleys. I always got a kick out of the folks that go out of their way to wave and then the same folks in another scenario like at a fuel stop or something act completely aloof. I guess you have to be moving
Tha wave is very active depending on your vehicle or form of transpotation, on my boat others will always wave, I guess its an acknowledgement for "everything ok". In my jeep wrangler other wranglers only will wave. Most vetts will wave but nobody waves when driving my silverado!!
