I know this has probably been covered a kabazzilion times here, but I couldn't find it in a quick search.
Getting ready to trade in my '08 coupe for a new ('11) coupe. My current one is a 1LT and I'm thinking about stepping up to a 3LT.
My 1LT seems to have quite a bit of road noise on the highway, and I seem to recall at one time hearing that the 3LT has more sound deadening insulation. Is that true? Cant find a thing on Chevy's web site about it.

Thanks in advance for any help.
I have never heard that. FWIW I just traded my 05 1sb (3lt) for a 2011 2lt. It is much quieter than my 05 was. I think a lot of it has to do with the new tires.

possibly is the tires -the road noise in my 07 is not bad (3lt) but more than my other cars
I have a 2011 GS Vert and its road noise made it near impossible to talk to the passenger at highway speeds. Really bad on concrete roads. After 3 or 4 hours it just wore on you. This is a good excuse for not talking but having to constantly say WHAT to your wife a million times make the trip suck. I had Second Skin installed two weeks ago made all the difference in the world. Love the car.. Not the first time I did this. My last three vets were also done for the same reason. Dynamat the first time, not that good but better then nothing. Cheater Gone
No the 3Lt does not have any more body insulation than a 1LT. The only thing you can buy from the factory for lower road noise is the Magnetic Adjustible Suspension. From their on look at different aftermarket tires, sound reduction mats, cargo area partitions, extra cargo area covers, fabric padded headliner inserts, etc., etc. The '11 coupe doesn't offer much in the way of any improvements over an '09.
I always thought my friends 08 vert was much quieter then my 07 coupe . We both have the stock GY's. I think it has something to do with the coupes large hatch area. Anyway I just installed the blockit mats tonight. I am gonna test and see if I notice a difference this weekend.
I can't remember the name of the company in long island ny but they sell this drop in sound deadening panel in the rear trunk area and one each behind each seat and it definitely made the noise level drop enough that its more pleasant to drive the corvette..
took 10 seconds to install and was inexpensive. (under 200 bucks and looks good)
It was something like TKO and the owner is a nice guy too.
Good luck and buy the 1lt save your money unless you like the various options of the other pacakge..
I recommend that over any 3 lt to try and quiet the next vette..

I have the TKO BlockIt mats(25 lb weight increase) in my Z06 and they helped some, but not as much as getting rid of the OE Goodyear's and installing the Bridgestone RE050A tires.
My C5 was also noisy as heck, and when I installed Michelin A/S tires, the effect was dramatic.
My advice is to wear the OE tires out as soon as possible and replace them with Michelin A/S tires. Not only will they be quieter, they ride smoother, and don't follow the ruts in the road like the Goodyears, and way better tire in the rain.
