Per Hot Rod Magazine there is a 9 1/2# battery available, the catch is that it costs $1400.00 with a special charger. How much is light weight worth to you?
Lithium Pro battery and dedicated charger was tested by Hot Rod in the January 2012 issue I just received.

This is just my personal experience, but if you want to shave off the Lb's with a lighter battery, I'd suggest braille. I had them in the Subaru I raced and it always started, even in winter as a daily driver. It weighed 6 lbs.
it was a low compression 4 banger turbo though, so it didn't need much in the way of cold cranking amps. Not sure what the vette would find acceptable.
I looked into Lithium batteries for one of my bikes. I found some info that mentioned that if the voltage ever drolpped below a certain voltate it would toast the battery, never get back to full charge again. This means that all you have to do is leave one thing turned on and forget about it to toast a VERY EXPENSIVE battery. If it's dedicated for racing that is one thing but I don't think they are ready for the daily driver just yet.

I don't claim to be any expert but I'd be leery of those lightweight batteries. The C6 is 'finnicky' when it comes to electronics. My friend put a lightweight battery into his C6 drag car and it caused problems. Maybe they work well for some but from what I saw I'd pass.
Maybe check the C6 ZO6 forum, as a member messing with a 4.9 lb $350 Shorai lithium-iron battery right now. I'm all for weight savings, but saving money too. My cars a 3132 lb base ZO6, and recently picked up a 31.5 lb Advance Gold battery for under $100 bucks with the holiday offers. A full 2 lbs lighter than the stock Delco, and 3 yr free replacement too.
