We got invaded one year by mice(hole in the brick wall and ate through thei insulation). Trapped, poisoned 38 of them. They poo and pee where they walk and ruined stuff.
I have no mercy now. I put poison out and no problems at all now.
How do you keep Sam OFF your Vette? Over the years, I've had cats manage to sneak in our garage a coupla times and they always jump onto the car, leaving pawprints all over the place.

Was watching a National Geographic show "Infestation" the other night, and you may want to check this out. One part showed a mouse outbreak on Australian farmers, with millions trashing everything. When all crop food sources were destroyed, started eating each other. Farmers couldn't even drive on the roads, as not visible, or just spinning out on crushed mice. Don't think these guys were feeling much mercy either, loosing a full years income.
They can do extensive to your car's interior as well. I don't like the smell of mothballs, or any brand of dryer cloth. I use cotton ***** soaked in peppermint oil for a car (not the Vette) parked at a friend's garage. The mice don't like peppermint (but I do). Choose your fragrance!
Opened my hood last week and there was a cluster of acorns, shells and debris on the top of the engine, between the FRC and plenum cover, though I thought it odd, figured it just blew in there and clustered due to air circulation. Vacuumed it all up (just a small handfull) and thought no big deal.
Today, I see it again, same cluster of acorn debis, except now I notice a few mouse turds. I GOT A MOUSE ON MY ENGINE!!!
Did not think to photo it but will next time. It's not a warmth thing, as I hardly drive it, but my garage is not enclosed as I have slatted walls, due to FEMA regs and being on the water (clear-story flood elevation). So what to do, I could put poison blocks in there, or glue traps or snap traps - or just let them be??? There is no sign of chewing on anything that I can see ...
I feel your pain...from two years ago.
I bought one of those sonic repellers you plug in. so far so good...no maintenance or smell.

I saw that. That was really bad. I don't remember how long it lasted though.
Don't use moth *****, unless you enjoy the smell yourself.
I use dryer sheets around my cars, atv's, and motorcycles. Then I scatter bars of Irish Spring soap around. Leave the soap in the boxes, and open one end.
I don't recall why this stuff works, but it does. Never any trouble in my garage, or shed.
Hey Brad,
Just took your advice. Went out to the my heated garage and put 6 dryer sheets inside the car and two under the hood....going to spread a few bars of soap around the car on the garage floor this week. I had a few sticky traps and spread those along the walls to see if I catch any. I have stored my boat for years with out any issues at all so I wasn't worried, but this should make me feel a bit better.

Hasn't happened in a LONG time, thank goodness.
I am sort of having that problem now. A neighbor likes to feed a bunch of cats and houses them in a shed in their backyard. At night the cats walk around and for some reason love my vert top. I find paw prints on my hood, hair and dirt, dust and dander on my black roof. I caught a few in a trap I bought and shipped them to another location far away from my house. There is still 3 more cats left in the fleet and I am aching to catch them as well since they are the ones really climbing on my car. I bait the trap but the neighbor is feeding these things well so they arent out looking for food, just a place to lay down and hang out.
I am not mad at the cats, and I dont want to harm them at all, I just dont want them climbing on my car and possibly peeing on my vert top which I doubt I can sue the neighbors for anyway. I do lay a piece of 1/4 in plywood on the roof at night so it makes it uncomfy for them. But they still climb up to check and so forth but they dont lounge anymore.

It could also be a shrew. I have them in my garage all the time, but they always get caught in one of the three mouse traps I have filled with cheese along the walls- around the garage. Just put a few out and I'll bet you catch it within a day or so.

She simply knows not to get ON the Vettes...dunno... just never been a issue.
