I am a Founding Member (April 1st, 1990) and have since upgraded to Lifetime status. I'm our local club's Ambassador as well. My younger son is a senior at Vanderbilt in Nashville so the trip bringing him to/from school has been convenient to allow visiting the museum since it's only 60 miles away. I've been privileged to take part in the NCM Motorama II in celebration of GM's 100th anniversary in 2008 driving my '84 representing that model year. I've got to know several of the staff and find it to be a worthwhile cause. Fortunately the NCM was started in better economic times; it would be tough to take it on as a new endeavor today.

I'm a Museum member, not lifetime member, but I renew every 5 years or so and have a few friends that are on the board of directors for the museum.....

I remember first going to the National Corvette Museum "Annex" in 1992 when it was off exit 22, Scottsville Rd.
Back then, a Lifetime Membership was $1,000, which was a lot of money to me then - still would be a chunk of change today, but anyways... here's the rest of the story...
In 1994, the NCM opened and I went a couple times over the years. In 2004, a friend of mine and I went to the Labor Day 10th Anniv. event and had a blast.
We both became Lifetime Members that same year however, mine was actually a Christmas gift from my wife. She ponied up the $1,500 it cost for Lifetime Membership - and best of all, she surprised me with my personalized membership # which corresponds with a very important year in my life
In addition to being a Lifetime Member, the company I work for is a recurring Business Member and has been for a decade
Aside from supporting a great museum and idea, supporting the NCM has been a decent tax writeoff over the years as a 501(c)3 non-profit
Also, check out their car insurance program for your Corvettes and other vehicles. They beat other "collector car" quotes I received - and Adam, their insurance specialist, is a top-notch guy
I hope this info is helpful and of interest

I have been a member for the past four years. You get a sense of pride when you visit the museum, and proudly display your membership card.

I became a NCM member when I did the Museum Delivery in April, 98. I kept it going til 2 years ago when the NCM had a series of Computer problems and get dropping me off of their Ambassador list. So, I finally just let it go. Thats not to say I wont do it again in the near future. Just this week I bought several Corvette Black Books as they were having a sale on the current book for $7.99. That is a great price...
