Default Car weight answer.

I was confused aout the car weight of my Grand Sport.
People here were saying like 3200lbs give or take a few.
I looked inside my drivers door and saw 3800 + a few.
It said gvwr i'm guessing that is gross vehicle weight restriction.

It said also total weight of occupants and other stuff shouldn't be over 423 lbs. Has anyone noticed this?

Also what is the clutch fluid that i can use in my 6mt gs can i get it from a local spot, or just the dealer?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone ever take your GS to a truck scale and actually find out what it does in fact weigh?

Clutch fluid I use is a Dot 4 brake fluid. Bought just about anywhere. I recommend doing the "Ranger" ( do a search) method to keep the fluid clean. Buy the smallest bottle possible to keep it fresh whilst on the self.

The GVW is maximum weight allowed. A narrow body weighs aprx. 3180#, the wide body has been described as 150# more so a GS empty weight should be around 3310# (depending on which model & options).

Any Dot 4 fluid for the clutch, Dealer fluid is just re-packaged lowest price bid.

I believe, the curb weight listed for for the Grand Sport is 3311 lbs for the GS Coupe and 3289 lbs for the GS Convertible. FWIW the book weight on my 2005 C6 is 3245 lbs and that's pretty accurate. I weigh my car for track event classing....with an almost full tank of fuel and me in the car it weighs-in at 34xx lbs. Now, if I could only shed 300 or 400 lbs I'd be

IMO Prestone DOT 4 is a decent clutch fluid. I use a 'higher performance' clutch/brake fluid....Motul 600.

You can lose about 150 with different tires, wheels, brakes, if you were drag racing, but you'd add several seconds per lap on the road course with skinnies on the front.

You could lose 50lbs of USELESS weight by chopping off your head!

Don't over fill leave it a minium as it wears it goes up never use brake fluid that has been open for 2 weeks.

The GVWR is the weight of the vehicle plus its payload, including fuel and lubricants. The curb weight is the weight of the vehicle without any payload.

In the sticker below (taken from my drivers door) You will see the GVWR circled in RED. The GAWR FRT (Gross Axle Weight Rating Front) is circled in GREEN obviously means that is the capacity weight the front axles can bear. And the same applies to the GAWR RR (Gross Axle Weight Rating Rear) circled in BLUE. The numbers seem confusing but dont let them be overwhelming. The GAWR for the front and rear are simply the max weight the axles can bear. I wouldnt worry about these numbers unless your going to be hauling heavy furniture or items. But dont exceed the GVWR by going to sears and buying 2000lbs in Weider weights and hauling them in your trunk. If you break your axles doing that GM can deny any warranty work.
