you can search for deka or braille on this site. They make light weight agm betteries. Deka is a lower cost brand than braille. If youre looking for a local source, east penn makes the deka stuff (same part numbers) and is normally available at local auto stores.
Typically you can find 15 to 20 lb weight reduction for around 80 to 100 bucks.
Optima makes a fine battery but I don't use them. Guys I trust at an autoparts store (where they sell various brands of batteries including Optima) told me..."Based on the batteries they see brought-back to the store daily the Optima isn't worth the premium you pay. The premium you pay does not translate into that much of an extended service life, if any." When I replaced my factory battery I opted for a top-of-the-line conventional Duralast battery. It wasn't a money saving thing either. I got satisfactory performance and service life from my OEM battery. I've never used a battery tender and even after extending periods of disuse my car has always fired right up. I'm happy with the high-end Duralast battery and AutoZone has a great warranty should there be a problem.
I've had excellent service from factory Delcos, so that's what i used as my replacement.
Just be aware that if you battery dies while in it's warranty period, it's much easier to find an Autozone open on Sunday in Podunk, than a GM or Delco dealer.
delco and if you live in the south / southeast you should plan on replacing it every 3 years they just don't last as long down here, put it on a tender as well when not using the car in your garage...
I'm with "Wayne O" as also have an Autozone Gold in my car. An Advance Auto Gold in my daily car, and all look identical to the original Delco, with top notch warranties. Sometimes if you order online from these stores, it's cheaper.
I am with most other here go with the OEM Delco, my 08 still has the orginal Delco and its going strong when it needs replaceing, I will go with another Delco.
