The root cause and fix posted here 6 months ago. Replace the microswitch.

Did you get the Radio Shack part noted above? or did you find the original with the wires instead of terminals?

I ordered some of the Radio Shack ones posted in here (without the roller), but I'd prefer to find the pre-wired variant.

I have used up my google search quota for the month researching this part. In the 13 years since my C6 was built, I'm guessing that that part company has been bought and sold a few times. I have found similar looking switches from Burgess, SAIA, Johnson Controls, and Honeywell.

Default How to get out of park anytime

I finally checked my 05 to see if putting the car in accessory mode first and shifting to neutral then stopping and starting the car works.
IT DOES!!!!!
Anytime you can't get it to shift out of park, just shut off the car and do this and you will be on your way.

Default Video that shows everything right here.

Here's a decent video that shows how to fix the issue. Might be a slight pain in the *** to do it, but better than paying a stealership hundreds of your hard-earned $$$. I personally would not cut off the piece like he did. I would drill a hole in it and wire it back and out of the way. This was VERY helpful.

On my 2005, sometimes it will not move out of park and sometimes it will. It seems like when the car is hot it will not move out of park. Sometimes when i work with it, it finally works. Does this mean the micro switch is starting to fail or do I have an another problem?

I wasn't able to take it out of park at all anymore. Not even in accessory mode. I had two replacement micro-switches on hand and was ready to replace them but after getting the micro-switch out of the two clips that keep it down, I noticed that I can open it easily, so I popped it open and cleaned both contacts (fixed and mobile) with fine sandpaper and after that I sprayed some contacts cleaner. Works like new now!
