Just purchased a 2007 with the nav system and cd player that plays mp3 music.
Question: Will the CD player play a disk properly (randon) that is full of my favourite songs without any folders?
The HU is kind of picky about the formatting that it will accept, read and play. It's very sensitive to file name length. Review these 2 old threads to see if it makes sense to you. If you still have questions post back here and wait for FortMorganAl to come by and help you. He's the expert on burning these MP3 disks. Good luck.
Your question is an interesting one in that you mentioned the topic of folders. I actually just made some MP3 CDs and was wondering the same thing. The answer is YES, it will play all tracks randomly as long as you don't set up multiple folders on the disc. If you arrange your tracks in multiple folders (such as separate folder for each of several different source CDs), when in random mode it will only shuffle the tracks in the folder that's currently being played. After it plays all of the tracks in the selected folder it will continue shuffling only the tracks in that folder; it will not move from folder to folder when playing in the random mode. Bottom line: If you want to randomly shuffle all tracks on the CD, don't set up folders!

mpuzach: Thanks for the great info. This is going to save me a lot of trial and error time. What program did you use to delete/modify/create the ID3v1 tag info for each sing?

See, I'm not the only expert on MP3s around here.

I burned an MP3 disc with over 200 songs (about 8 hours worth of tunes) using NERO. Created one folder and put all the MP3 tracks in that one folder. I named each MP3 file as follows:
artist name_track title.mp3
No problems. Plays great and I can use random play or I can go directly to a song if I remember the track number that I like.
The sound quality is great because I compressed each mp3 file to 192 kb thus giving a good size vs. quality for each mp3 file.
Oh....and I forgot to mention.....when the track is playing, the artist and track title of the current song is continuously displayed on the CD player in my car which is very cool.
