Engine Drag control on, is the message that showed up on my dash after I gunned it and came right back off of it. I felt the engine pull the car down like when you down shift. This is the first time, with 45k miles on it, this has happen to me, anyone else have this experience and know why it did this.

perfectly normal, I have had this come on a few times and every time it has happened coming down the same overpass - I like to use the engine to decelerate as you can feel the power and hear the engine
It occurs because your wheels have slowed faster than your engine is. The car will do this to prevent the back end from sliding out if it senses the wheels slipping. You might want to adjust the RPM that you are downshifting at.
ENGINE DRAG CONTROL ACTIVE: This message
displays when engine drag control is active. When
driving in a lower gear in rainy, snowy or icy conditions,
and then letting up on the accelerator or downshifting,
the rear wheels may begin to slip and this message
appears. This message will stay on for a few seconds
following the engine drag control event.
Smooth72,
This is a cool feature on all Corvettes a lot of people are unaware of. Backwards traction control is good description of how this feature works. It helps maintain control during raid deceleration. Thanks everyone for taking the time to post.

Thanks to all, I knew I would get a answer here. The forum is great.I was just suprised that I had not experience it before. I drive spirited, all about the safe fun. I figured I had put the car in to all types of condition. My first vette a 79L82 in 1982 would get away from you easily and it was low on hp, so appreciate the car being smarter than me, or at least it may have more common sense. I have 45k miles on mine and just started my 4th set of tires, corvettes has something seriously wrong with there tires.
