Default Alignment Issue

I need a front end alignment on my 2011 convertable. Went to my local Chevy dealer and he told me he could not mount the alignment sensors on my wheels. My car has the optional five spoke RQ1 wheels.
Tried two large tire dealers and was told the same. Tried another Chevy dealer and a Cadillac dealer and they could not do the alignment.
How can I get the front end aligned?

Whats wrong with the alignment, I would think this would be a warranty issue with a 2011 car?

What is wrong with your alignment? Tire wear, pulling to one side, dog walking?

The car has 12,000 miles. The left front tire is wearing out and the right tire looks new. Dealer says it is an alignment issue. Can't find anyone who can do an aligment with the RQ1 wheels. The rubber bead protector on the Goodyears is up against the rim of the wheel preventing mounting of the alignment sensors.

Is this warranty issues, I am not exactly sure but I think so? Can't believe GM sold you wheels that could not be aligned. They had to have been aligned when it came from the shop. Any other GM close to you that you could take the car to?

I'm guessing they are afraid they might scratch the painted surface and you will want the wheels replaced.

I would call GM's 1-800 complaint line. You have the OEM wheels. They are obligated to service the car.

My dealer has a two year old, state of the art, alignment machine but it will not handle my car with the RQ1 wheels.

Does your car have the original tires? All the different wheel options have the same bead diameter and shape(for it's size, 18"--19" etc). I don't understand how the tire's bead protector can be against the rim on your wheels but not on the other wheel options available for the C6.

My tire dealer used a Hunter machine to align my Z06 with no problems, but the tire's bead protector was not tight against the rim. Same with the Bridgestnes I now have.

Looking at Hunter's website, I see they have a new adapter that rests on the spokes of the wheel but has two arms that reach out and grip the tire on it's OD. You might have to see if you can find a dealer with one of those alignment machines.

Colony Tire Co. told me about the Hunter adaptor that grips the tire but they said the closest one is in Raleigh, NC about 150 miles away. They did not know of the location of the machine in Raleigh.
Yes, the tires are the ones that came from the factory.

Can someone post some pics of those wheels?

Heard the same "adapter" response from my dealer. Not a "small" dealer at all. They borrowed the adapters from a specialty alignment shop. I would have gone there, in the first place, if I had known about the issue.

That is customer service's # I had two of the reps over the past 2 &1/2 years on my problem with my drivers seat. The seat has been out 5 times & replaced with a new frame with all the components on it 4 times. The problem is that i can not raise the front of the seat up or down.Every time they replaced the frame it might last for a few months, but the last time they replaced it ,it quit 2 days later. That frame with the motors and what else is on it cost over $ 500.00.The last Rep.gave up.Of course, under warranty it does cost GM much. When i take a trip i use a small pillow & place it under my knees to be comfortable. It's a shame that i paid $60,000 for a car and they can't fix a simple problem.,.,.,,.,.

Does your dealer have another Vette with different wheels on the lot? If so, ask their tech if you can swap the wheels to do the alignment. Later! Frank

dardenken,
I'm really sorry to hear you're experiencing problems with your seats. I'm going to document this issue for you. Are you still covered under warranty?

Chevrolet Customer Service,
Justin

Yes: i have a GMPP,but It's still under the 3/36 cause every time they worked on it it has a 1 year warranty. Thanks Justin. My attorney wrote GM a letter ,but have not heard anything back yet.The last rep was here in the US and she said that a specialist from GM would work with the dealer to try and troubleshoot the problem, but that never happened ?? Since i do not drive my 07 Z06,i might just exchange seats and see what happens.

$60K piece of JUNK! I know, I have a $57K junker plus $57K 1,000s/s GM stock loss which equals $114K for the car with GM stock loss. Yet, what a pity, I bought the stock first then the Vette, got burned twice.
