When I sell my BMW 540i I am going to be looking for a 2008 - 2011 convertible. Am I wrong or are sellers throwing darts to see how high they can price verts? I would like a low mileage 08 or 09 to save a few bucks, but the asking prices are seemingly crazy. For example 2012 LT3, 6m, vert, chrome wheels, MPP, F55 from a forum sponsor $65,000.00. About 15% OFF MSRP. Then you see a similar 2011 for 55 - 57, or 69!!! A 2010 at $65!!!! 08's at $49!!! You have to wonder what they are basing their prices on. It seems to me that the well equipped 2011 is a bargain at $55 and not bad at $57, insane at 65. So, a 2010 at $45 - 48?? An 09 at $41?? 08 $34 - $36?? Sellers probably don't like these numbers but paying 49 for an 08 when you see 09's & 10's priced at the same or a little higher seems ridiculous. Are the lower prices loss leaders? Did that one sell yesterday but today we have one similar but a lot nicer for 10K more? Anybody care to weigh in with what they paid?
Not sure you are going to find many loaded 08 verts in the $34-$36K range. I'll share my story for what it's worth. 27 months ago I bought a loaded 07 vert that had 12k miles and 1 year of factory warranty left. I bought it from a dealer and got what I considered a very good price of $36.7k. I recently checked the price guides and the car is still showing to be worth almost the same some 2 years later.
It's my opinion the verts have held their prices fairly well over the last couple of years.
The price of 08's is what has me puzzled. Normal depreciation would suggest mid 30's for an ave condition LT3 but you see them posted for mid 40's. OR MORE!

keep looking
Just picked up an 08 vert, Crystal Red, A6, 3LT, NPP, Z-51, Nav, chrome wheels and the Mesh grille package last wednesday.
The car came from a dealer in NC. Paid $38.8. Car has 16k miles. They are out there. Just bide your time.

The 08's had a few improvements, not the least being the LS3 with 30-36 more HP. That would explain some value being held better.
BTW, 08's are better cars to buy for this reason.
Las Vegas Motorcars has a blade silver 2010 GS couple, 1LT, automatic, chrome wheels, NPP, with just over 4,000 miles, for $43,900.
Looks pristine from photos. Too good to be true?

It appears that there are two types of sellers out there right now.
Those with high prices looking for a sucker and those who actually want to sell a car.
Look at the "For Sale" prices on Ebay motors then at the completed auctions. Actual sales appear to be 5-7,000 less than the average asking price for all the models.

That may be a little high. Kerbeck had 2010 gs 1lt going for 46500 back then. So only drop of 3000 bucks. Still a good price.
I got my jsb 3lt npp chrome wheels nav and Bose. 49500 nov 2010 6000 miles on it. From Carolina. Sticker was 70,000
There are lots of cars available and at this time of year the prices should be flexible. Dealers don't want these cars over the winter months. You should be able to get a good deal.

You have to take into consideration that their haven't been any meaningful improvements in the Vette since 2009. Also, the mileage on many garage queens means they are barely broken in, and are truly like new. Their is a shortage of good used cars on the market today, meaning they are demanding a premium.
High price for a used car usually means a couple things. One is that the dealer knows he can get around that price. Some people believe a new C6 sells for MSRP so $45k or so for an 08 might look real good to them.
Or they start the price high knowing buyers will low ball them. Local dealer is advertising used Aveos for about $12k, which is currently about $3-4k below the cheapest new car (Sonic Sedan). In reality the Aveo is probably worth around $8-9k.

I wouldn't base the market for Corvette sales on e-bay. Most buyers are not buying a car on e-bay that they can't see or drive. The average buyer has a trade, needs financing, wants a warranty etc. The market pricing is always based on what the car will bring wholsale at auction if the dealer can't sell it.
Not everybody can buy a new Corvette the average GS convertible has a $72K sticker price. So a low mileage 08 or 09 priced in the low 40's is a good buy.
