Background
I have been slowly changing out parts to the new GM Suede W/ red stitching. So far I have:
Shift boot
Shift ****
E-brake Handle
E-Brake Boot
Custom console lid with red stitching and suede.
I eventually plan to put the 2012 seats with red stitching and suede inserts.
I was looking at a 2012 Steering wheel and hit a snag. My car is a 2008 2LZ, so it has radio controls, but no bluetooth.
The only suede steering wheel with red stitching I can get also has bluetooth. So I would have to buy a 2nd 2012 steering wheel, switch out the left side panel and then sell the one I don't want.
I can buy a 2012 leather steering wheel with red stitching and no bluetooth but that would kinda mess up my whole theme of suede "touch" areas. Although my interior guy says suede is not the best on steering wheels because it gets dirty and you can't clean it.
First of all, I think it is Alcantara not Suede. Alcantara is a man-made polyester blend fabric that can be cleaned.
Can't you just get the 2012 wheel and not hook up the Bluetooth? Aren't the buttons included on the new wheel? Only you will know they are inactive.
Sounds like a cool project. Hope you post pictures. I'd also like to replace my wheel but something all leather.
I have pet peeve about having buttons or spaces that don't work. I really wanted bluetooth just to fill the spot, but wasn't willing to pay extra for an 09

I asked Patrick at gm parts house that question and unfortunately \ they aren't sold separately.
i didn't realize by 2012 you were only talking about GM wheels.
Aren't there are suppliers that will do the fabrics you want in the older style wheel so you can buy the solid insert for the left side?
DSVettes or the others; they don't have what you want?
Well I really like the new design and the minor feel improvements. I'm not not a big fan of the Apsis or DSvettes wheels, they are a little over complicated for my tastes. Plus if I can buy 2 a sell the second, and get they one I want, it will beat the cost of the aftermarket guys.
Anyone with bluetooth want a leather 2012 steering wheel? PM Me
The steering wheel is OEM but the custom work is done by Dallas Custom Steering Wheels: http://dallassteeringwheel.com/sw1.htm I saw the one I have pictured above on eBay. That particular wheel has "black leather & Alcantara, yellow stripe, yellow stitching and extra 1/16" padding for sporty look and comfort feel".

I've had the alcantara on the seating surfaces of my previous car. CTS. No, it can't be cleaned completely. It gets dirty, you can attempt cleaning with limited success. It never looks new again.
