BARRETT-JACKSON has always been over the top at this particular auction venue. Some high rollers with some very unique, special, truly rare and one of kind vehicles.I'm sure they get caught up in it when it starts going, especially on Friday and Saturday night. They have that kind of money so more power to them.A few years back the GM something or other LINER WENT FOR 6 MILLION I THINK IT WAS.That's nuts, but there's nothing else like it so what the hell!I enjoy seeing all the cars go thru, some I would never ever see were it not for this auction on TV.I enjoy the entertainment factor and that includes watching these nuts spends a million or 3 on some cars!
I remember about 3 years ago, a car owned/signed by Carol Shelby (his A/C Cobra) sold at B-J for $5 million...
Did you see the post that said the White ZR1 Vert. had a VIN of 2012.
I sent an email to the Speed team doing the Show, to please clarify this. We will see.
Love the cars, hate the trashy auctioneers and bidder assistants
The british auctioneers at the RM auctions seem so much more refined. Also the bidder assistance also seem kinda goofy, always touching and hugging the bidders especially this guy chicken george of the mecom auctions he can't keep his hands off people. kinda creeps me out.
I thought the price paid for that 62 custom was insane but I guess it's how you look at it. I know a weathly, serious collector (not of cars). When there's something he really wants he has a mindset that you can always get more money but you might not ever be able to get that rare item again.
I remember seeing 325 for something but I just went and looked, I did not find the 62 325 Corvette. I think the rules at BJ are that the seller pays 10% and the buyer also pays another 10%.
I have a problem with auctions. The person who offers the most gets the item.
All my life I have had a committed goal to pay LESS than others for the same thing.
You are not looking at that correctly. Even when you buy something for "less", you just paid more than anyone else paid for it.
Auctions are what they are. I use an example...if I pay $40 for a shirt that is only worth $30 I may have paid stupid money in relation to what it's worth, but $10 isn't going to make me lose any sleep. There are people with enough money that overpaying by $100,000 doesn't cause them to lose any sleep either.

What is your point? There are no ZR1 convertibles of any year, so what is the point of questioning whether it's a '12?
IMO...BJ is nothing more than "Reality TV". I would love to go to see it in person. I might even try to "steal" one of those first cars that go across the block. Say what you want but I'm a car guy and I love to see these kind of shows on TV.
Yeah, it's not as much fun to watch this year. Every time I've switched it over, it's either a custom, a motorcycle, or some ancient 193x car I've never heard of. I like 1955+ cars, Corvettes and muscle, and have seen very few examples in my limited watching opportunities.
That said, I've become a big fan of Mechum (sp?) this year, except for that buyers assistant that acts like he's never sold a car before. Whats up w/ that guy?
